After the UFC 159 post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White discussed the failure of NY to pass a bill regulating mixed martial arts, for four years running. The bill soared through the Senate by a 47-14 vote, and has received positive reviews from the Governor, but is being frozen in place.

“It’s just ridiculous,” said White.  “We get more votes (In the Senate) than we got last year.  It’s just to the point now where it’s just absolutely ridiculous.”

“It’s the Culinary Union. The culinary union bused a bunch of people up to Albany last week to try to protest up there.  It’s 100 percent the Las Vegas Culinary Union. It’s being held up because the Las Vegas Culinary Union is that powerful in New York.”

White is being pressed to respond, but he reminded that the best way to get back at politicians trying to keep the UFC out of New York is to keep the UFC out of New York.

“You know what you do, and I don’t like to say this, because there’s a lot of fans in New York, and I appreciate the fans in New York," said White. "Talking about the politicians…The biggest way you say f--- you to the politicians in New York is you don’t have a show in New York. Are they hurting my business one bit? No.

"I just stayed in New York. I f------ ate in great restaurants. Loved the hotel I stayed in. Then I drove over here (to UFC 159 host state New Jersey). Took me about 30 minutes to get here, and I did a fight here that did a 2.7 million dollar gate, and all the things that happened over here, we gave the money to New Jersey.  New Jersey got all the money.

"I still hung out in New York. I had a blast in New York. And guess what? The host hotel is here in New Jersey.  They got all the rooming nights, all the people that came over, people coming over to the hotel and getting all the fighters, everybody flew into New Jersey and we did it in New Jersey.  That’s the ‘f--- you’ to the politicians in New York.”

Dana said at the meet and greet the economic impact from an event in NYC would be $100,000,000. I believe they said in an article the UFC  would do 3 events a year in NYC for 3 years. Thats nearly 1 BILLION in lost revenue from not legalizing MMA. Thats not including other MMA promotions.

Hmmm sounds like Dana adding a zero to his figures again.

I believe that 3 events a year for 3 years would TOTAL $100 Million, not that each event would bring $100 Million.

A study from 2011 helps confirm that the 3 years to equal $100 million mark isn't completely off base...assuming that the UFC does additional shows in Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo

So they blew Fedor deal and now NY. Would be interesting to see how far UFC could go with new and more competent leadership. Maybe someone who's idea of getting something done by politicians is not to say "f--k you" to them.

Don't blame Zuffa, they've spent huge amounts of money here. Everything looked so good a couple months ago.

The biggest way you say f--- you to the politicians in New York is you don’t have a show in New York.

So his big "I'll show you" moment is to say they won't hold a show in a state where they can't legally hold a show?

If you factor in other MMA shows then you can add about two hundred fifty bucks to your total. Phone Post

No his big eff you is not begging a corrupt state to make them a ridiculous amount of money. It's not like New York would even have to put out any effort to make a massive amount of revenue. UFC takes the show to other states that would be grateful to have them rather than jump through more hoops. Phone Post 3.0

How much did Zuffa pay in bribes, err donations, to politicians in NY? I'm sure they are devastated that he decided to stay at a hotel in NJ.

Whatever, a drive to nj takes 30 min, it's axtually less time then to go into the city and deal with traffic.

I would love to have ufc in the city but going to nj isn't the worst thing.

What they need to do is keep doing events in NJ and maybe then New York will be more inclined when they see everyone spending their money there. Phone Post 3.0

When you care, you say you don't.

Dana shouldn't have eaten in NYC or held the press events at MSG.

Big deal if the event took place in Jersey if EVERYONE on the card or fans dined in NYC.

This is where Dana needs to get he isn't as big as he thinks.

This UFC 159 STILL had tickets available before showtime.

A 2.7 million dollar gate once or twice a year isn't like the Yankees deciding to move out of Gotham.

It won't hurt NYC to not get UFC events.

It will bother Dana because he will not feel legit until he gets inside Madison Square Garden.

Guy wants in there so bad he had media day at Madison Square Garden which is like a stalker camping out on the lawn of the girl who won't let him fuck her.

If Dana REALLY feels like not putting money into NYC he shouldn't be bragging of dining there.

Why not eat in Jersey?

Why not have media day in Jersey?

It's also the second time in a relatively short period that UFC is being held as hostage, or at least affected negatively, by Station Casinos. Last time it was all the xyience scams and taking loans in UFC's name and using the money to bail out Station Casinos out of bankruptcy.

If you guys love the sport and not just the money, maybe it's time to let it go.

Maybe the Iron Shiek can save them again, by buying NY and making MMA legit here.
