Stevenson was going to be the next Franky Edgar before even Franky Edgar.

until Penn took his soul.

He shouldn't have taken that fight against Dakota, but when you need the money...

He went into training with a disc problem on his neck. Causing bad stiffness making it painful to train. Then he pulled his bicep training and could barely move his arm for a few weeks. After that his lower back went out. He was in no shape to train properly, let alone fight and cut weight.

He missed weight, and the process drained him so much he couldn't stop throwing up.

Joe's had a long career. Started real early. Fought Jens Pulver when he was 16. He was coughing up blood for a week after that fight. Real warrior. Phone Post 3.0

Although his demise was sudden, for a kid that came from bum fuck nowhere, he saw the world, fought the best, is revered, loved, and remembered.

I can only hope I see the heights he has seen. Phone Post 3.0

He still teaches at his gym, Cobra Kai. He's got a few fighters under him be trains.

He hasn't officially hung em up, he still wants to go out and compete, but his body is a wreck. Imo, He needs to fix his body before he takes on a serious training camp.

That being said, he still only 30, he's only been ko'd once in last 10 years. He's got a TON of talent. Phone Post 3.0

Is he in a good spot financially, where he can afford multiple surgeries? Or you think he will just fight injured again, if he does compete? Phone Post 3.0

He'll just fight Injured again. I hope not. I think he got crushed financially from the housing boom. A few foreclosed homes. Bad investments. Phone Post 3.0
