Saw a pic of him right next to Gus, he looked more like a WW.

Why does a guy who REALLY hates being hit so bad choose this as a profession?

Wouldn't he make more money in Japanese pro wrestling?

I always said Fedor could have fought at 185 if he had wanted to.

True story.

Agreed. Wish he would've at least dropped to 205 after Pride. Oh well... Phone Post 3.0

Fedor was awesome but I don't feel that LHW, and especially MW, would have suited him any better than HW did. While he is definitely shorter than the other guys there, he far more thickset which is what gave him his speed and power which assisted both his standup and ground game. I've stated this many times but very few fighters benefit from dropping weight classes was they are established at a certain weight. Most fighters actually end up performing worse from the weight loss and more difficult cut.

Far more fighters actually perform better by bulking up and moving up a division. Gustafsson is someone who I think would be a much better fighter if he bulked up and competed at heavyweight. With his height/frame adding 20-30 pounds wouldn't be too difficult and it would help alleviate some of his weaknesses he has at LHW which owe a lot to his lankiness.

Fedor could have definitely fought at 205, come into the fight at around 225.

At 185, he would lose all his power and skilled MW would finish him. Fedor's speed and strength at HW were a big reason for his wins.

I think the real question here is why do Orgs keep signing Sapp for fights?

Oh, and also in regards to your comment CDarwin, Sapp would probably take less damage in MMA than wrestling. The only thing he has to do in MMA is take a fall after 30 seconds of the first round and get a paycheck. Doesn't even have to train or anything; easiest paycheck ever lol. I'm sure wrestling would be a lot more work than that.

jesus, Sapp has lost 11 straight, 14 of his last 15. It's a miracle anymore if he gets out of the first 2 minutes.

I can't help but wonder if there was a conversation with fedor and jones, You wonder what dana white thinks of this, Any one have any more info on this, what exactly were gus and jones doing......Imagine jones over there training with Fedor to expand his game. I gotta say that would be fucking cool to watch, I would imagine jones respects the last emperor.....Great pic In a recent article jones called fedor his idol,
