What was/is the best 4 fight win streak in MMA history? Not the longest or the one completed by best fighter, but who won 4 fights in a row against the toughest competition.

My vote goes for Shogun's Pride tourney performance...

Rampage
Lil Nog
Overeem
Arona

All around their prime, Overeem and Arona were even on the same night.

I have found a lot of fighters that have equally impressive 3 fight streaks and Anderson and Fedor have longer streaks but no 4 fights in a row that were quite as tough. Phone Post 3.0

Gegard Mousasi beat  - Manheof & Jacare on the same night, then Subbed Mark Hunt in 1 minute, and KO'd Babalu in a minute.

Babalu beat Shogun, Prangley and Jeremy Horn in one night, then beat Lands-jons, he also came into that 3 fight night on a win.

Jon Jones. He beat Rua, Rampage, Machida, and Evans all in a row, Evans being the only decision and he only lost (arguably) one round in all 4 fights. Phone Post 3.0

Mousasi over Jones easily.

he beat 4 top guys in under 5 minutes.

Shogun wasnt the "old shogun" against Jones, and Rampage wasnt prime Rampage either.

The Jones one is close but I would give a slight edge to Shogun. Jones fought older versions of Rampage and Shogun and some would argue that they were on the decline.

Now for everyone's favorite subject...MMA Math.

If you add up the win streaks that Shogun's opponents had before he beat them you get 14, while if you do the same with Jones' opponents you only get 8. This doesn't necessarily mean Shogun's opponents were better but it is something to think about. Granted most of that number 14 is from Lil Nog.

There needs to be some type of Sabermetric name for this stat. Phone Post 3.0

Lol @ Mousasi I can't even take that one serious.

Rampage = Rampage
Machida & Evans > Lil Nog & Overeem

What kind of revisionists history is this? Shogun was on top of the world when he fought Jones.

The answer is pretty obvious to anyone who isn't a butt hurt pride fan.

Shogun was 3 -2 when he faught Jones. not "on top of the world". take his dick out of your mouth.

Mousasi destroyed Melvin Manheof. Destroyed him. then later that night, he destroyed Jacare. the same Jacare that will be UFC champ in a short time. then he subs Mark Hunt in about 1 minute, the same mark hunt that just took JDS to the 3rd Rnd. and Mousasi is a small 205 -185er in that fight.. then he Beat a legit Babalu in one minute, same babalu who already tooled your precious shogun on a night he faught 2 other guys.

Mousasi has the better 4 fight streak by far.

How are Machida and Evans > Lil Nog and Overeem. Nog beat Evans, best case it's a push. Phone Post 3.0

Gegard Mousasi tapped out Melvin Manhoef & Mark Hunt, and no not the Mark Hunt that took JDS to round three, this was a Mark Hunt on a four fight losing streak and was awaiting a loss to Sean McCorkle. Submitting Manhoef is like knocking out Jonathan Goulet.
Babalu hadn't been a top fighter since his loss to Liddell.
Jacare is the only decent win but that early in Jacare's career it doesn't hold nearly as much merit as Shogun, Rampage, Evans or Machida.

Its 4 UFC champions against 0 UFC champions, how the hell can you even debate this.

Either

Jones

Shogun

Rampage

Machida

Rashad

Henderson

Sobral

Feijao

Fedor

Shogun

Shogun

Rampage

Lil Nog

Overeem

Arona

I give it to Jon Jones. All have 3 finishes, but the fights that went to decision Except for the Jones fight, were all razor close fights, ie Henderson/Shogun, Shogun/Rogerio

Beating Overeem back then wasn't as big a deal as it seems now.

Is ThaiGuy Miesha Tate's side boob now?

That was the watered down version of Mark Hunt who was phoning it in and not training, taking fights on a few days notice...not the guy who just fought a war with a broken toe against JDS. Mousasi would be brutally destroyed if he fought Hunt today...fact.

I could argue this with you all day man, lets just agree to disagree.

also, you put too much weight in being a UFC champion. especially since most of them didnt even defend the belt.

How is beating Melvin Manhoef and Mark Hunt in the middle of a TERRIBLE run which would eventually include a loss to fuckin McCorkle. Better or more impressive than Jones soundly stomping 4 of the last 5 UFC champs in his division?

I am not a big Jones fan but that is far more impressive to me than what Mousasi did. I also think that
