Earlier this week it was rumored that Patrick Cote would coach a new international season of the Ultimate Fighter opposite Hector Lombard. Although it is true that Cote will coach the show, his opponent is actually Australian Kyle Noke. The UFC announced the show today:

The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) confirmed today the next international installment of its famed reality show will feature two leading Commonwealth mixed martial arts countries, as Canada meets Australia in The Ultimate Fighter® Nations. Series veterans Patrick Côté (20-8) and Kyle Noke (20-6-1) were officially named coaches of the 22nd edition of the show, which will feature welterweight (170lbs) prospects.

UFC President Dana White's exclusive announcement: http://on.ufc.com/177w0sv

A nine-year veteran of the UFC, Côté first appeared on the reality series in 2006 when he joined a cast of UFC alumni in The Ultimate Fighter: The Comeback. Originally from Rimouski, Quebec, the bilingual fighter was the first Canadian to reach the series final, and remains only one of two Canadian fighters’ to have done so. Cote then went on a five-fight win streak in the UFC, and earned a shot at Anderson Silva’s UFC middleweight title.

Noke, a native of Dubbo, New South Wales, joined the reality series ranks when he fought his way onto season 11, The Ultimate Fighter®: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz. He was Hall of Famer Liddell’s No.1 pick, and reached the quarterfinals. He has since gone 4-2 in the UFC, including an impressive Submission of the Night win over Chris Camozzi and a devastating KO last time out over Charlie Brenneman.

Well I'm glad because TUF is a piece of shit show and I don't want good fighters WASTING their careers on that STUPID SHIT.

I don't care about either of these guys so let them do Frank and Lorenzo's bidding and pretend that the UFC is going to increase their revenues making weak revenue deals overseas............

Damn. Figured we were due for 155'ers since TUF 15, TUF 16, and TUF Smashes all featured welterweights.

Have a few guys who want to try out, but will have to move up to be on the show.

Sadly I am not interested in this :(

I can't see this fight being on the main card of a PPV if it wasn't connected to TUF.

My interest in the season is generally dictated by the choice of coaches. My interest is very low.

great point! Our club is chalked full of guys who walk around at 150-160 so hearing that an entire season will be dedicated to 170 kinda stings, especially since we are 30 mins east of Toronto.

Easily the worst possible match up they could have made.

I cant even remember Nokes last opponent.

Are either of these guys in the top20?

They've used Sotiropolous and Pearson as coaches before. I thought both coming off a loss. Not really a step down. Phone Post 3.0

These international TUF's seem to be mostly just about finding new talent in new locations (as it should be) as opposed to locking their stars up as coaches for six months without a fight. They aren't looking for killer ratings in the US with these.

We only watch the show week to week to see the fights anyways, who gives a shit who is yelling at them from their corner.

they arent looking for any ratings in the US considering they arent broadcast on TV in the US. They are all online.

These international TUF's are about that market, not the US.

Obviously there was some reason or the UFC would have opted for the bigger star. Perhaps getting a suitable opponent that would be both willing to do the show and be available for the taping as well as on schedule to fight at the final.

Anyhow, the coach selection doesn't interest me much as there hasn't been as much in-show drama as seasons past. If the fighters they bring in have talent, aren't immature brats and the show's produced well that's what matters to me.

Coté has been around for a long time and is known. He def has the experience to do some good coaching if he has the aptitude for it.

He's also fluent in french and his english is very good for a guy from Québec. That could come in handy if there are french speaking guys on the Canada team.

But yeah, I guess there arent that many guys from Canada that could have coached right now. I personnally think Rory is too young to coach TUF.
