During Tuesday's broadcast of UFC Tonight, Chael Sonnen weighed in on Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman, which takes place at UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman on July 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"You don't have to look too far to see Chris Weidman has the exact skill set to beat Anderson Silva, and he's also got it upstairs," said Sonnen. "He wants this fight. He has a better top game, at least submission wise, than I do.  I was able to have some success for several minutes with Anderson from that position."

"Weidman's going to get on top, he needs this, he's never tasted defeat."

"Let's also understand, if Anderson Silva wins this fight, the debate ends—he is the best fighter of all time."

So who do you think is the GOAT? And if Silva beats Weidman, does it change your mind?

He already is the GOAT, or at the very least tied as the GOAT with Fedor; nonetheless, if he beats Chris Weidman, then it will definitely be a great accomplishment on Anderson's already incredible resume.

Weidman is good, but he's no GSP or Jones.

LOL at how hard they are trying to sell this. Funny thing is that they don't need to, since people will watch Anderson anyway. And I think it's a good match-up (much better than that Jones-Chael wankfest), but they need to stop with the theatrics. This isn't Bonner-Silva where they have to embarrass themselves in the eyes of a lot of regular fans to sell the fight to the casuals.

Weidman doesn't need to be as good as Jones or GSP, he just needs to be far better where Silva is his weakest and that is exactly the scenario with this matchup.

No need to try and sell it to anyone, stylistically this is the type of fight we all should be hoping for when Silva fights, does anyone really think right now theres a fighter out there who can stand and trade with Silva ??

Wether or not Weidman has the skills to win is yet to be seen, but he is the real deal and mentally he's not afraid of Silva, its exactly the type of matchup I want to see against Silva. Phone Post 3.0

+1, I hope AS wins for his legacy, but I want Weidman to put him in danger, and I know he's one of the better candidates to do so in a while.

There's Fedor style GOAT-ness --
Be so friggen well rounded, you destroy everyone at THEIR STRONGEST game / stongest skills

Then GSP style GOAT-ness --
Be so well rounded and a master at controlling which phase the fight occurs so you drag people into THEIR WEAKEST area.

Then there's AS style GOAT-ness --
Be freakishly talented at one aspect of the game and skilled enough to keep the fight there. You obliterate people where YOUR STRONGEST game is, regardless of what their skill set is.

Obviously AS is supremely talented in all aspects of MMA, but you see these tendencies pretty clearly, his other skills are ancillary to his matrix-striking whereas GSP and Fedor would employ their other skills equally, the former to attack weakness, the latter to attack strengths.
