Bellator is just another asset in the Viacom empire.

The UFC is not just an asset in the Ferttita empire. It's sort of their baby. Compared to Viacom, Zuffa/Fertita Enterpises/Station Casinos is still a small operation. So of course Dana White, Lorenzo, and co will be that much more invested in the UFC than Viacom is in Bellator.

Bellator's contracts and practices are miserable.

But they are not alone.

Mace, what did you think about WSOF testing ALL of their fighters when their gate was just over 100k yet Viacom won't do the same and they're around the 100 show mark?

The U.F.C seems to care about the UFC name mostly, like they want to be the NFL or NBA. These fighters have to make all the money they can from any source they can, they get hit in the face and kicked in the head... you can't do that forever. They would love to be to have every name possible on their shorts, do every movie that comes about, have action figures, hell... even act silly and entertain fake rasslin'. Those fake rasslin fans will probably be converted to MMA fans, sort of how Brock Lesnar brought a few ship jumpers over. Those old pro wrestlers used to be cage side because they knew what was up. Now you don't see them.

Bellator seems more lenient, if you lose fights in the UFC, it doesn't mean you're not entertaining. I don't know who half of the people are on some of the cards, it seems like new people every card. I like to root for people I connect with. Remember when Tito, Chuck, Randy and Rampage, Silva and all those guys were mainstays and you like to see them fight other people with big names... now you got dudes with names you can't pronounce that win 2 or 3 fights and all of sudden they're future legends.

Bellator will end up with all of the "names" the UFC thinks it can throw away. The UFC will end up with a roster of people that nobody knows or can pronounce their names - all of whom have no personality.

Nobody thinks Bellator looks bad with regards to the Daley situation other than a few babies here on the UG. It's not their fault Daley can't leave the country and they've allowed him to fight twice outside of the organization from February-May this year. Two fights in 4 months. That's allowing him to fight 5-6 times a year when they could not allow him to fight at all.

Alvarez? It's nothing different than the UFC would do if Anderson or one of their bigger stars wanted to leave.

Oh sure right. Ufc would totally handle it the same way bellator did with the alvarez situation. Bellator Became increasing hostile to him by the time the contract negotiations came up. They even threatened to sue him for filming backstage! They tried to trick him into signing a contract with wordage changed. And ultimately they are preventing him from fighting by taking him to court with the hopes that the lack of money flow will cause him to cave in. Does that really sound like somthing the ufc would do to a fighter?

short answer: yes

look at randy.

Well that short answer is a dumb one because Randy, unlike Eddie, didn't complete the number of fights he promised in his contract before trying to haul ass and got himself sued.

FightSpace - Seems like if your not one of about 10 guys the UFC isn't treating you very well these days. Wouldn't be surprised to see many guys jump ship over the next few years. Phone Post 3.0

How are they not treating fighters well that makes you think guys will be jumping ship to a lesser promotion? The guys you see "jumping ship" (with the exception of only a few) were cut therefore they had no choice but to find another promoter. And how many Bellator fighters have been in the media over their contracts recently (12 months), back to back??? Now compare that number to the UFC and tell me where there has ever been multiple UFC contract problems in the media at the same time like that.

Even WSOF 3, with a gate revenue of just over 100k and 2,500 spectators managed to have ALLLLLLL of their athletes drug tested this past event. Viacom won't even make sure the playing field is level for their athletes by doing the same and the multi-billionaire company running Bellator can dayum sure afford it. They can pay better as well as afford insurance for their athletes like Zuffa does too... but they don't bother. Thoughts or comments???

Yep! I'd jump ship in a minute from the UFC to Bellator if I were a fighter because there are sooooo many benefits=) Love the athletes, will watch their shows, and am glad they are getting opportunities to grow but LOL@ the decision making idiots!

Cindy

Really? Other than the lack of testing, what are the benefits that Bellator offers that the UFC does not? Why aren't any fighters leaving the UFC for Bellator? Or are you just another anti-Zuffa Bellator shill?

Bellator gates are terrible--$50k to $75k for a good show, 100 shows or not.

Fans like him will continue to bring up Randy cause it got ugly and went to court so they will compare it to Eddie even though they arent the same thing.  Randy still had fights left on his contract, Eddie completed his and is claiming they didnt match.

Willy the Coyote -  Up until the past few years UFC didn't test all of their fighters, and they were getting huge gates. Phone Post

They still do big gates.  and the AC are the ones who test in the US but UFC goes to states that test, Bellator picks alot of places that dont.

Imagine the UFC picking a state that doesnt test and then put Reem on it or something.  WHat would fans be saying?  They would say the UFC is placing guys who are suspected cheats or drug users and putting Diaz or Reem on cards in places that dont test to protect them.  But Bellator goes to these places that dont test alot and nobody says shit.

Imagine if no failed test ever came out in the UFC?  What would haters be saying?  UFC doesnt test, the sport is a joke, UFC paying off commissions not to suspend and release testing info etc.

JStrongMMA -  There was a time in 1997 when I bet Bill Gates never thought Apple could topple Microsoft. Phone Post

Apple never toppled Microsoft. Microsoft still has a much greater share of the computer/OS/browser/office suite markets. Apple won in the music player/phone markets, but that's not toppling Microsoft by far.
Apple is a more valuable, more innovative company. That's what I meant by topple. I understand Microsoft will always have majority market share in the pc industry but that doesn't really matter anymore. Phone Post

But that was his point your (purposely misspelled for "the spelling guy") comparing companies that sell different products. UFC and Bellator basically sell the same product.
