Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and the UFC are going through an ugly breakup at the moment. At this point I'm surprised both sides haven't gone into scorned teenage girl mode and started posting mean things on Facebook about one another.

Although we aren't at that step just yet, Jackson's recent comments to Sherdog certainly won't quell the animosity from either side.

"...I think Bellator is actually going to come up," Jackson said. "You’ve got to think about it. Spike TV is what made the UFC. The UFC wouldn’t be where it is without Spike TV."

I used to love Rampage. Can't stand him anymore, though. He thinks everyone is out to get him. Oh well, good luck with Bellator.

Is this really the best Rampage can do these days to try and upset DFW? Parrot what his new white bosses are saying? Don't they have a term for that in the black community?

Spike did not make the UFC nor did Zuffa the fact of the matter is the Gracie family made the UFC. Zuffa built it up to a global company. Phone Post 3.0

So, what did he say that wasn't true? he's absolutely correct.

hate on him for the stupid shit he says. there's lots to choose from, but this? it's dead accurate. there would be no such thing as the UFC were it not for SpikeTV.

Just getting a TV deal is one thing. Getting there in the first place, delivering the product, continuing to delivery the product on diff platforms/channels all matters too. There is/was plenty of room to fail aside from simply being on Spike.

Rampage, quit being such a hater, homie.

Did this have anything to do with Spike or with the fact UFC just finally got on a TV station every one with cable got? Didn't the UFC have to pay Spike to even get tuf and the finale on TV? Phone Post

That's just silly.

The UFC was around long before their relationship with SpikeTV. Spike definitely played a major role in the rise of the UFC, but the UFC would still exist with or without Spike.

Spike and the UFC made each other. SpikeTV was a failed network that changed names every couple of years because they couldn't get any traction with viewers. The UFC was bleeding money and struggling to recover from their 'human cockfighting' image. Without SpikeTV, the UFC would be nowhere near as big as it is today, and without the UFC, SpikeTV would still be a godawful network that nobody watches and probably on their third name change since 2005.

I think its silly to say either built the other. Take away MMA (and pro wrestling if you're into that) and the rest of Spike Tv's lineup has been utter trash throughout their existence. If anything, Spike was used as a stepping stone for the UFC. Spike benefited greatly as well from the UFC. All of this "we built them" form each side is just silly politics and ex gf/bf bickering. Pathetic on both sides.

They both made each other.  They were the network who gave the UFC a shot, yes the UFC paid to get on but they still gave them a shot and the UFC grew.

No other networks were giving them a shot.

But when Spike lost WWE if they didnt have the UFC what would Spike be today?  I'd bet money they wouldnt be nearly the network they are with men 18-40 if they didnt have the UFC for all those years.

UFC was Spike tv.  So they both helped each other.

This. I loved the shows that Spike put on when them and the UFC were one, but the UFC is onto bigger and better things while Spike is devolving into the garbage that it was before.

Weren't they TNN (the Nashville Network) before and TNT even before that? Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I'm sure they are hoping that Bellator will be the 'WCW' to the UFC's 'WWE' circa 1996 and have a huge and successful ratings war but its not gonna happen while the UFC holds 95% of the top talent. Um actually this is totally not true. UFC made the UFC. If you guys remember the history UFC "PAID" to have TUF 1 on Spike, its the same as buying commercial time on any other channel, just so happen Spike was that channel. UFC took the gamble and invested the money Spike did nothing but agree air the show and take money in doing so. And from that point on the show and the UFC delievered. They promoted their fighters, they created the names, they did what boxing failed to do and that was make many stars instead of a few.

Not to downplay Spikes role they did jump on the bandwagon and helped out eventually, but UFC just as much made SPIKE TV, prior to UFC Spike and nothing in the way of notable original programing.

TUF was not an infomercial. The UFC produced the show on their own dime, but they didn't pay Spike to have it aired. Not only did Spike give them airtime, they gave them a primetime slot with a lead-in from one of the most successful shows in the history of cable TV (WWE RAW).

Wait till Bellator drops him and the amount of hate/bullshit about them that will follow.

Does this guy ever just shut the fuck up and enjoy his life? Phone Post 3.0
