Was going to say Guy Richie, Bobby Lupo beat me to it. Think he's a black in Judo and brown in BJJ. Phone Post 3.0

I assume most celebrities get the majority of their work in private lessons. Is someone who goes up the ranks through private lessons as legit as someone who goes up the ranks in regular open classes?

In other words, is a purple belt that is given to a celebrity as legit as a purple belt given to a regular person? Also, I wonder how many celebrities are given belts in order to give the gym publicity (if any).

Anyone have insight on this?

Not sure if any mentioned him, but David Mamet, writer of Hannable, Ronin, Wag the Dog, The Edge, and a bunch of other movies and plays, train BJJ. Not sure what level. He mentions it in his book The Secret Knowledge, which is really about his transition from a Hollywood liberal to a conservative.

Add Carlton Haselrig (3X NCAA Champ) & Lorenzo Neal (NCAA Champ) and those two for a round robin.

Jim Nance, old Boston Patriot as the alternate.

As far as movie stars, Hult Hogan is a great american thespian and was a professional wrestler. You know that a professional has to be better than an amateur, right? Right?

Galvao looks so much bigger in a gi. No "fat" but I didn't expect him to be nearly as thin as Usher.

In a celebrity grappling tournaments, I would probably put my money on Joe Rogan. It would be interesting for the UFC to put on a celebrity grappling superfight on one of the PPVVs. It might draw in some new fans even though it is only one aspect of MMA. It would certainly increase my interest in watching a PPV but maybe others feel differently.
