Renzo Gracie is a legend in mixed martial arts and perhaps one of the most respected members of the community. Gracie has been a big part of helping Chris Weidman prepare for UFC 162, and when asked about Anderson Silva, had some choices words about the champion:

Gracie tells The Fight Network (video here) it's because Silva does not respect his opponents.

"Anderson is a guy that rubs many people the wrong way. He's not a humble guy. Even though he may speak humbly when he talks, when he's in the ring he doesn't act humble. He puts down his opponents. He acts in a way that again, we always know what is right and wrong, and by looking at that, we know it's wrong. It's like you can beat your opponent, but do it with respect."

Andy's silliness against Maia turned me against him for quite a while. I was pooping myself when I thought Chael had him the first fight. That said, no one's shut up Andy in quite a while.

I agree with Renzo, but at the same time, some of that "unhumble" showmanship makes him pretty damn exciting to watch. Putting down your opponents of course is not necessary. Phone Post 3.0

Not many would agree I guess, but I thought the behaviour in the Bonnar fight was disgraceful, given how far down the ladder Bonnar was.

Ever think the reason why he plays these "mind games" is a key aspect of his fighting style that helps him win?

I'm failing to see a problem with that. All I see is jealousy.
Sit down Renzo, you don't have to be humble to be king.

It's called skill beyond 99 percent of everyone in the world. People said Roy jones jr in the ring was an asshole. Yet no one would talk about how he had no talent. Clowning people doesn't mean you're not humble. This is nonsense Renzo. Phone Post 3.0

I hated how he clowned Forrest and especially Bonnar, who were both respectful. If he had totally humiliated Chael I would have been fined with it with all the trash talk, or Vitor since he disliked him at the time.

But yeah, he not only beats people, but humiliates them. Doesn't mean it doesn't work for him or isn't the best! But I find it hard to root for a guy that clowns people he knows he dominates.

Nothing like the unvarnished truth from someone with no affiliation to either fighter.

I am super-curious to hear from these people:
- Anderson Silva's wife
- The Nogueira Brothers
- Ricardo Almeida
- Chris Weidman's College Roommate
