*Rubs hands together excitedly* now we are talking!

There are A LOT of great options in the second-hand market. You can find incredible vintage pieces within budget. Read this article for more info and an idea of what can be had:

http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/ask-us-anything-worthwhile-vintage-under-1000

^ Any of these watches are so much more classy and interesting than a new Hamilton, Tissot, Luminox, Longines, Oris etc (no offense if you're a fan of these brands- I just think a lot of those vintage pieces have tons more character).

Furthermore, you start to enter territory where you can afford some solid offerings from the German brands. The Sinn 556 goes for $1050 brand new. Damasko DA36 starts at $1125 but the extra technology you get with their case makes it worth it IMO. Both of these brands are more of the "tool watch" niche, and they are basically where IWC was two decades ago before they abandoned functionality for status.

Lastly, we come to my favorite brand- NOMOS. These are basically the cheapest "great watches" you can buy. In-house movements hand-assembled in a little watchmaking village in Germany, and sporting clean, minimalist designs. They are beautiful, high quality, and an absolute steal for what the cost. And you can pick up a pre-owned one within your budget (or very close to it).

I'm a big fan of the fake 'classic' watch companies.

Swiss Legend and Invicta have nothing on those weird brands with the long fake history. Phone Post 3.0

Elaborate. I understand that lots of companies are bought out in name, then revived. Who are you thinking of specifically?

ORIENT Star Classic Retrograde WZ0031DE

I almost bought a Orient Bambino in Rose Gold a few months back. Wish I had. It was on sale for $199. Now they don't go for anything cheaper than $300.

I have been biting my spin poster lip about making a 'Good Watches $1.5 million - 1.3 trillion' thread.

It's a fucking clock on your wrist that should tell time accurately, not a statement of your manhood.

A fucking 10 thousand dollar rolex loses like a minute and a half a day if I wear it, but a digital timex that costs about 60 bucks (for a really nice one) keeps time perfectly.

Fuck fake glasses and overly expensive watches.  Both make me sick.
