MMA Junkies' Steven Marrocco tweeted the salaries for several UFC 162 fighters, including the main event's Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman:
•Anderson silva banks $600k show and $200k to win at UFC 162, while Weidman gets $24k/24k.
•Co-mainers: Frankie Edgar ($120k/$120k) and Charles Oliveira ($21k/21K)

However, these official figures do not represent an accurate assessment of each fighter's income.

Fighters bear significant costs including training expenses, a percentage to management, a percentage to the trainer, insurance, licenses, and taxes.

On the income side, in addition to announced salaries. the UFC characteristically gives out undisclosed "locker room" bonuses. Main event fighters often get points on PPV buys. In addition there are publicly announced 'of the Night' bonuses. Sponsorship money can be substantial, although they have dropped markedly over the past couple of years.

Lastly, many fighters earn income from teaching, from appearances, and in many cases from regular employment in the non fighting space.

He was asked to renegoiate his deal before this fight but declined and said he wanted to after he won. Him making only 24/24 is his own doing.

hmm. its hard to tell how much Weidman will be making, I believe in championship fights, fighters always "get paid".

I could be wrong thought, but Dana always made it sound like whenever a fighter fought in a championship fight the fighter was always well paid.

Wouldn't clauses in the contract cover championship fights? who knows.

They are obviously paying him an undisclosed bonus in this fight. Weidman will be making out just fine. Does look weird, though, I agree. Phone Post 3.0

That's the contract he signed - I'm sure the new one will be better. I'd like to think he'll make $250k plus for this fight, when everything is considered (PPV, Bonus, Sponsors, etc..)

I have no horse in this race, but the only person in this thread who seems disproportionately pissed off is you.

This. He wants to wait incase he wins. He would rather start a new contract as the mw champion. If he loses, he'll still get a decent contract. Phone Post

Could you imagine any of Floyd's past opponents signing on for $24,000?

That has got to be the biggest pay gap of a championship main event in the history of Silva's UFC career.

If it's not, that's even sadder. Phone Post 3.0

...and when Weidman is the dominant champion for years, he'll get paid that as well.

God you people love to bitch and whine on here. It's fucking pathetic.

Anderson and GSP prob get 1.5% pts on PPV
Most main eventers have to negotiate to get up to 1% if they are champion.

Challengers prob get .5 pts on ppv if Dana likes you, that is not in the contract...My guess or he just buys you a Ferrarri.

Zuffa offered to negotiate a new contract with weidman before this fight and he instead said he'd rather do it after... believing that he's gonna win and that would mean an even better deal.
