Since the shocking end to UFC 162, fans and media have already been a buzz with the idea of a rematch. Anderson Silva dispelled the idea immediately in the cage and then a report surfaced that he did desire the rematch. Now UFC President Dana White is adamant the rematch will happen and he's flying to LA to make sure:

"I'm flying to LA next week to go talk to [Silva]...Yes I do [expect the rematch]. Anderson Silva is going to get knocked out again by reality in a few days, and he is going to want to do this fight again... Actually, I am looking to do the rematch THIS year... It could be [UFC 168]. There is going to be a rematch. There is no way we don't do this rematch."

Ofcourse DW wants the fight to happen, itll be one of the largest events in company history and make serious money. Hell, he's probably going to try to talk Anderson into it if need be.

I hope Anderson gives a big F U to dana and sticks to his "no hematch, no hematch" stance.

You're a fool if you honestly think Anderson does not want a rematch.

The money involved would make Anderson get knocked out one more time. That being said, I see a rubber match (with Silva winning) as I think Silva is the better fighter over all. Phone Post 3.0

You are hilarious. What needs to happen to Anderson for you finally get off his back?

Do you just sit around making and waiting for threads about him just to make some condescending, snide remark? Phone Post 3.0

Dana's insistence hints that the "report" that Anderson wants the rematch was either his management playing ball with the UFC brass or the UFC brass themselves trying to make sure Anderson doesn't deny the rematch.

I can't ignore the pieces seemingly falling into place to show Anderson giving up his middleweight title in the way he wanted, having had a proxy bet on Weidman, letting Lyoto move down to middleweight in a way that quells all of the "Lyoto can't be the best middleweight till he beats the best middleweight" talk if Anderson were to simply vacate the belt, and move on with moving up to lightheavyweight to finish out his career fighting RJJ and possibly a contender (not necessarily in that order) and then announce a fight with JBJ as his retirement match if he has won those first two fights.

I'd personally prefer to see him finish out a trilogy with Weidman (before 2015 for fuck's sake) and fight RJJ and JBJ if he keeps winning.

As for what's really going on, we'll see.

If Silva wins next time and there is a 3rd fight, it will be like Ali v Frazier. More hyped than any MMA fight ever.

Queensbury, but they use dog faeces instead of vaseline on their faces.

LOL at the faggots acting like Silva will get KO'd again. Weidman has a good chance of winning again but you're extremely delusional if you think Silva will put himself in a position to get knocked out again.

Weidman's standup is NOT that good, Silva was leaning back off balance with his hands down. The stupidity is off the charts.

If Weidman wins again it's by submission or decision.

Yeah, good point. Still, Dana gets asked questions about the rematch probably around 100 times a day, he's gotta tell them something.

Does this pretty much guarantee a trilogy if Silva wins? Fairness would dictate it, given the way Weidman controlled and KO'ed Silva this first bout.

After living through the years of rematches at 155, the potential prospect of going through this again with 185 is unappealing.

I'm greedy too.

Anderson is almost done in his career and has other fights that are more important and flat out more interesting. If he's gonna fight Weidman again, he needs to do it twice (provided he wins the rematch) and then he's got two other more interesting fights ion RJJ and JBJ to take part in within the next 18 to 24 months or they lose both relevancy and his ability to remain competitive at a rapidly increasing rate.

I want to see the Weidman rematch in, like, September. The rubber match by NYE. The longer I have to wait on this one as a fan, the vastly fewer fucks I give... exponentially so. "Time caught up with him" really gains weight fast if we wait another year for him to fight Weidman again. Fans (I should probably say "the masses") have a two-month collective memory or attention span or whatever. After that, we lose focus, don't remember the details, don't care so much any more, and will ultimately just remember that "Silva lost, he's old."

September, dfw jr., or I start to stop caring.
