The UFC scripted the Tito-Dana feud based on McMahon-Austin. Manager against former client. Boss vs bitter worker. I got sucked in. I watched the boxing show. Ricco Rod said that Dana was going to school Tito. I was a mark ' Phone Post 3.0

When WWE did that number, it wasn't even one of the top 30 shows of that week.

Biggest TV audiences for wrestling were all in Japan.

Evil twin refs, Andre sold the belt to DiBiase. My young mind was totally bottled. Couldn't believe I saw Hogan lose. Shit was crazy, then 2 years later Tyson lost to Buster. That was even crazier

Right, but the imposter ref wasn't the ref's evil twin, it was another guy who DiBiase paid to get plastic surgery to look like the real ref. Ha ha!

dfw jr -  There were not as many Chanel's back then. The Cosby show used to do between 30 to 40 million viewers. Can't compare the 80's to today. Phone Post

There were fewer choices of entertainment period, and agree the comparison is silly.

That being said, I'm kind of curious what sort of free TV numbers might be sufficient to entice the UFC away from PPV at some point. Or maybe reduce PPVs to 4-8 a year.

As you're clearly aware of, the PPV market is inherently volatile and television deals like the Fox deal are more financially stable. Is there any way that if the UFC were popular enough it could go to a situation where like, under a reworked deal with Fox y'all did a 12 shows a year on Fox and only 4-6 PPVs (along with FS1 shows)? Like maybe if you all were pulling in 12-15 million viewers on Fox?

Glovegate -

Ronda has been given as much mainstream attention as she's going to get right now.  The story of the first woman in the UFC has been done.

This is incorrect. She is an awesome interview and should have no trouble getting mainstream outlets to interview her on the promotional tour and leading up to her fight with Tate. She's far more than simply "the first woman in the UFC" and you'd have to be fucking crazy to think otherwise.

The real star was Gina. Ronda's the best that we can get, as a replacement.

Gina was incongruous. She could fight like hell yet she was feminine. That's what gave her the 'it' factor. She was like something out of a comic book. Ronda's a big ole tomboy.

Was their no low that rich bastard wouldn't stoop to in order to get his hands on the belt? He even spent a mil on his own belt when shit went sideways and Savage won the WM4 tourney.
