Cesar Gracie recently appeared on BJPenn Radio last week, for a wide-ranging discussion, that included Anderson Silva and Ronda Rousey.

There has never been a fight in memory that generated as much talk as Anderson Silva losing to Chris Weidman, and Gracie says Silva will lose again.

“I really think it’s like a passing of the torch," said Cesar. "I really do. Weidman is a really tough guy. He’s got all kinds of skills. Good jiu-jitsu guy, credible wrestler, and hits really hard.”

“[Silva] doesn’t have the chin he use to. He thinks he can get away with the games he played, but you get an aggressive guy on him that’s going to hit him hard, he’s gonna go down, and that’s what happened.”

“It is possible for him to win this rematch, but all-in-all we’re gonna see him start to lose fights I think, and start to be a lot more human than he has been in the past.”

Gracie also had interesting insight into Ronda Rousey, who has trained at his academy in the past.

“Ronda was, honestly, one of the first females that I have seen in my life that can tap-out guys," said Cesar. "And I’m talking about good guys. She’s that explosive, she’s that good. And her commitment, being an Olympic-level athlete and everything, the way she just does stuff. She taps out really good guys. She definitely showed me that women can not only be exciting in fights with other women, but also that they can compete with the guys even.”

“Women like that kind of said, ‘ok, these girls belong here.’”

Cesar was asked if he expects the outcome to be the same in the Miesha Tate rematch, following the latest seasin of TUF.

“I think for Meisha to stop something like that she would have to just train with some seriously world class men who are arm-bar specialists and for her to not get caught up in that," said Cesar. "The thing with Ronda, believe it or not, her standup has gotten a lot better also. She’s sparring a lot. She’s put that dedication, the same dedication that she had for the grappling part, and she’s putting that into her standup game. And so she’s actually doing pretty well. I’ve seen her sparring with people and she’s come a long way. So she’s going to have more than that threat coming into this fight.”

“What I don’t want to see is Meisha have her arm torn off again. I just don’t want to see that. I want to see a ref that doesn’t allow that to happen because people don’t understand; you can lose your arm with an injury like that... Could you imagine what that would do to a sport?”

“There’s definitely things that Ronda has done incorrectly in the past and that’s giving her back up a couple times, but I’m sure she’s going to address that and get a little better.”

“I’m kind of seeing that fight as going Ronda’s way again.”

What do you think UG? Is Silva going to be human going forward? And how good a guy can Ronda tap out?

I think Andersnon beat Wiedman in the rematch, I really do.

This is assinine.

Anderson Silva is not going to just start losing fights.

Focused Silva is going to be a nightmare for Chris.

Yeah, yeah, we'll see boys.

Weidman is the popular choice right now, but I think people are forgetting who Anderson is.

We'll see what happens.

And how could I be sad next year when the fight is happening in December 2013?

The punch that caught Anderson didnt seem the hardest but caught flash in a position like that, i guess it hit all marks. Anderson's chin is probably not where it was and its inevitable. Its also inevitable that every top athlete/team starts losing at some point. The question is only if he can avenge that loss, if he does, i dont think it matters what the hell happens next. His legacy is already secured but avenging the loss will only bump it up that much higher. After that, not much higher to go esp at his age imo.

I disagree with Cesar. I was pulling for Weidman in the 1st fight and I'll be pulling for him in the rematch as well. But I cannot deny that people are reading way too much into what happened as far as who is a better fighter or if Anderson is going to go downhill rapidly now. Anderson is known for clowning around and he got caught. That's it.

I hate to say it but that 1st fight wasn't a very good comparison of Anderson and Weidman as fighters. If Anderson didn't go off the deep end with the stupid clowning, he likely would've KO'd Weidman. I agree with Renzo when he said Weidman was fading. Renzo is Weidman's trainer and Weidman is about my favorite MW, but I'm not going to deny reality. He managed to catch Anderson during Anderson's antics and that's great, but Anderson's not going to make that mistake again. I think Anderson is going to take the belt back in the rematch and maybe retire that point or win a few more and then retire. As long as he doesn't act stupid and overdue the showboating, whether it's to get in his opponents head or not, he is a better fighter right now than Weidman and I think he wins on most nights. But I will be hoping Weidman can win the rematch.

UG should ban the tradition of saying simply "Gracie" in titles. Which Gracie? Roger? Kyra? Royce? Billy Bob?

STOP THIS.

Stop crying nuthuggers...Cesar was 100% CORRECT on each and every point.

Silva's timing was way WAY off in his last fight....He was trying to be Ali, and just getting his face punched in by Weidman instead....then he would try to punch Weidman...and he just kept on missing his punches.

The EXACT OPPOSITE of hit and don't get hit....Instead he was missing and getting hit. Shit, even Bonnar, of all people, was landing clean on Silva . The only way Anderson keeps on winning is if they keep matching him with weak /one dimensional competition as they have for the vast majority of his UFC career.

It wasn't just one lucky fluke punch...Weidman was landing on Silva long before the actual KO punch....and Anderson was missing most if not all his punches...Weidman CLEARLY won the 1st round and certainly won the 2nd round and the fight itself.Weidman won the grappling and the striking...he nearly submitted Anderson and he had better offense and defense...Apparently Anderson can't hang with a "fading" Weidman...It's not even like Anderson was winning the fight before he lost...he was losing the fight and then he got KTFO... Anderson got his shit pushed in PERIOD.

No denial that Anderson was getting hit, but you can't believe that those punches were thrown with bad intentions coming from him. Lazy and slow ass jabs? Come on. In addition to that (it's no excuse), but as Anderson was weaving his eyes were freaking closed and Weidman used his whole body to lunge into that hook.

I give Weidman a ton of credit because not only does he have power he did a lot of things standing that others didn't. But we can't be too quick to judge and see if Anderson has really fallen off until this rematch.

Weidman will be a nightmare for him. But experience, intelligence, and talent from Anderson can still help him prevail.

this division is the weakest and always has been.chris, andy, vitor then everyone else.guys like bisping, munoz, okami, chael, rockhold, tim b.,etc. most days are not at the level of the top 3. my wild card would be jacre in this division.gotta see a fight or 2 more against one of the above guys.
