How do you guys feel about Kells?

http://www.portlanddoubledecker.com/index.html

They have a sick double decker bus they deliver fans from the bar to Blazers games in. They can either take us to the fights in that, or we can just hop the max train right over the bridge and hop off at the rose garden.

Kells is in a sick spot, the thirsty lion is 1/2 a block away, voodoo doughnuts is right around the corner.

All the madness of downtown is right there, the dixie, dirty, etc.... (after)

this sounds like great fun. We are game!!

You must try the cock and balls doughnut

Out of curiosity, can Bellator fill the Rose Garden to a reasonable degree? I thought it was odd when the venue location was announced. That's by far their biggest capacity ever, and not even for what looks like one of their standout cards even, unless they bolster it heavily late.

So far, other than the LW tourney, the card will feature:

- Ricardo Tirloni vs. Marcin Held alternate (arguably better than any of the tourney fights :))

- Nathan Coy vs. TBA

- Tyson Jeffries vs. TBA

- Joe Pacheco vs. TBA (Jeffries seems plausible)

WSOF should loan out Tyson Nam to get his ass kicked by Dantas. Dantas needs the action too.

They're only using the colored section. The other half will be cut off.

Pretty cool idea IMO.

Much better than doing smaller venues

Pretty crazy the UFC only did 16K in the Rose Garden with big names and local stars at 102 back in 2009.

Yeah I remember paying a crap ton for 200 level seats for that event. It was my first UFC but still that was brutal pricing with the economy at the time. Phone Post

Good to see Jeffries on the card as well. Still holding out hope they put Ryan Healy on here too. Gotta feed those new Healy twins! Phone Post

Holy shit the Anti-Hero!  He popped in for a week last year and kicked everyone's ass all over the place.  Incredibly cool dude, plus remember him watching him wreck shop back in his FCFF days.

Tirloni vs. Held sounds like a great fight - battle of the Jansen losers, though even as a big Jansen fan I think that fight could have gone Tirloni's way and watching the Held fight was major stress wondering if Held was going to catch one of his crazy subs.

I'm not optimistic that with even only half the Rose Garden they will be able to fill much of that.  The last Strikeforce felt incredibly empty and that had some pretty big names (though remember being kind of surprised at almost no promotion for that event).

Hey 12-6 - saw Renzo PDX guys the other day and think they are up and running classes in a temp location while they get their full time space finished.  Remembered you asking about that on the BJJ forum here.

Yeah I talked to Aaron,

they're a little further south than they were going to be before. So I am going to do a few test drives and see how the commute down there for class feels (Still only like 10 miles from where I'll be)

They're only making less than half available it looks like, if that last gray tier represents seats. So I'd say it's about 7,500 capacity. Given recent history, and the card, I'd say they fill 5,000-6,000. That's a solid percentage of the capacity, but I question the choice of a major venue for 2 reasons. One, they'll have to pay a higher site fee for the same amount of seating. Two, the size of the building vertically is going to create a lot of space for noise to escape. So I think smaller venues and big indian casinos are > at this point.

BTW, the aforementioned Ryan Healy is lobbying to get on the card, but so far he's the one getting no love, not Rich Clementi.

Yeah Strikeforce ran the Rose Garden last July and it sold poorly. It wasn't promoted at all. I'm not sure if they would do much better as far as attendance at Spirit Mountain Casino. Would probably save them some moolah though.

Ryan is campaigning, you've probably seen me tweeting at some point even though my tweets are protected. Healy makes too much sense to not be on the card. They're known around here and every fight I've been at of Pat's or Ryan's around here they've had a pretty good cheering section. Phone Post

It doesn't sound like there is enough capacity there for a Bellator event at this point.

I think Healy would be a good measuring stick for one of Bellator's lw prospects at this point. Damon Jackson vs. Healy would make sense.

Also, what about Hawn? I thought it was odd he wasn't on the card in spite of it featuring the LW tourney. He's from Oregon, originally. Hawn-Freire would be a great feature or good 4-man tourney match-up if they were to start a coinciding one.

Also, Dave Jansen of course is an Oregon based guy. That would be a big draw vs. Chandler for the title, but I don't think the Fugitive would be recovered enough already.

Not sure yet. I'm probably going to have to wait until August 30th to buy my tickets (still recovering from Seattle)

Glad I'm not the only one! Looking at the calendar though the way the state pays I'll get paid Saturday morning the 28th in September so that's good news.

I forgot that Michael Venom Page's next fight was scheduled for this event. I'm not sure if that's still on or not. He said he suffered an injury today.

If someone wants to park nearby, or use a hotel room for a base, I can cover a LOT Of booze to drink outside bars, saving everyone some bar tab. I brought like 8 fifths or something to UFC on fox, gave most of it away.

I can bring the same or more to Bellator.
