I timed it on a stopwatch from the time Pierce taps until Palhares let's go and it was 2.75 seconds.
All this bullshit for under 3 seconds. Its actually under 2 seconds from when the ref dives in. What the fuck is the matter with everybody? Phone Post

OP needs to get a heel hook cranked tighter after he taps.

Because pretty much everyone else let's go instantly out of respect for the other fighter.

Keep in mind that fighters will already have pushed themselves past most people's limits as they try to find a way to escape, so by the time they decide to tap the pain will already be excruciating. At that stage 2.75 seconds is a fuckin' eternity.

Also, when it comes to submissions, there's sometimes only a matter of seconds between severe pain and something breaking.

2.75 seconds is an eternity when someone is wrecking your knee as tendons and ligaments stretch till they pop.

2.75 seconds is a long time when someone is beating furiously on your leg in a clear and unmistakable "TAP".

2.75 seconds is a long time when your opponent is screaming and you ignore him.

2.75 seconds is a long time when most subs are released at the first touch of the refs hand (on Palhares shoulder in this case).

2.75 seconds is a long time when when Palhares actually cranks even harder for the last 1-second till he lets go.

2.75 seconds is a long time when Palhares has a very well documented history of holding subs too long.

I don't know if everyone is the same, but when I throw on a leg lock, I increase the pressure gradually over like a 5 second period... So if someone taps and I were to not notice or hold on for an extra 2.5 seconds for some reason... That can be a serious serious injury. It's not like he had him in a lock and just sat there without increasing pressure. Intentional or not that's just dirty Phone Post 3.0

If a heel hook is so devastating, then fucking ban it instead of holding its practitioners to a higher standard than other submissions Phone Post

i didnt realize body parts were indestructible for X amount of seconds.

also, why is it that everybody else in the sport can manage to let go after a tap besides him?

Heel Hooks are designed to tear your knee. Damage is done before you feel the pain. It's not like he fake tapped or verbally tapped. Pierce tapped about 5 times before the ref literally dove in trying to break the sub. Palhares is playing dumb (or might actually be) if he thinks that fight wasn't over when Pierce tapped Phone Post 3.0

Babalu got cut for refusing to release a choke. You have to let go of all subs when the ref stops the fight.

A. Leglocks are very dangerous and anyone that is a supposed expert should know that.
B. He's a repeat offender.
C. He cranked even harder AFTER the ref jumped in. IT IS VERY CLEAR.

I hope most of you defending him are just trolling for fun. If you're not, good luck in life. You're values and perspective are twisted.

Sure, it was only two.  Except for this thread and video to the contrary.

Please count them.  Is it four (4) times or five (5) times now that Palhares has been documented holding subs too long?
