I first learned this move at (I think?) a Jeremy Horn seminar about 100 years ago. It comes up every once in a while when trying to pass and it works better than you'd think. Often the opponent is so worried about the pass that they don't pay attention to the submission until it's too late.

This, a training partner hit it on me a few years back, said he saw geddes hit it a lot and ive been doing it too ever since, really good to hit from half guard on the bottom, even if they dont tap you are almost guaranteed the sweep Phone Post 3.0

Mir also tried this against Freeman at UFC 38. I use it quite a bit when rolling.

Our old combat sambo coach taught us that. He used to do it from a single leg and was very quick locking it on. Shocks you first time you feel it. Phone Post 3.0

Cool video, I didn't remember him trying it against Freeman. He actually goes for it from the bottom of half guard in that fight.

Jorge Rodrigues def. Ken Jackson via Submission (Kneebar) - Round 1

Rodrigues was getting dominated and pulled this off out of nowhere with 15 seconds left in the round.

Video image is reversed for some reason, but here's the entire fight:

I get this quite a bit actually, but for me it usually comes from bottom deep half guard, reach one arm through his legs and grab your other arm that comes from around his hip, pull him directly on top of you, your ankles should be on his ankles (the way I was shown), and then arch your hips. I never got it from the top though, which is where I see it done most often, and just started working on it.

This works really well for me against guys with longer thinner legs, but not against opponents who have thick tree trunk legs (it tends to gas you out going for it). When they roll to the side to defend, it gets even tighter!

I think I saw it on a video by Dave Terrell once, and then had my BJJ instructor show me how to do it (he knows everything.... seriously).
