99% chance a troll but I would love to see a Tito run promotion because it would be such a hilarious train wreck. Hopefully he will also fight and commentate. Phone Post 3.0

OneSidedWar -  Just got off the phone with a friend who is currently gathering a roster for PunishmentFC.

Points of interest:
-TMT & PFC are looking to "adopt" Bellators PPV hail-mary strategy.
-A roster this early points towards a reality show. This will not be via TV but rather into the online markets.
-Glory Kick-Boxing may have alot more to do with PunishmentFC then previously thought.
-Cyborg, Askren, Kongo, Rampage, Rutten & Couture have all meet with upper-management.
-I cant mention who has been offered employment but the list includes several prominent figures in MMA.

(Ill wait until the powers that be start the engine before dropping names. My only investment in this whole situation is to make sure its done with as much honesty as possible.) Phone Post

I suppose this could explain Cyborg's mysterious absence from Invicta 7 (although just as plausible is the idea that they were waiting until Invicta 8 in January to use her), but seriously, wtf is this shit?

If this is some actual promotion then it seems like a recipe for disaster. Other than Cyborg, whose contract ends soon, aren't every single one of those guys either retired of under contract to Bellator until at least August of 2014? Nothing against the quality of Glory's shows but they're having a ton of trouble getting any traction with their kickboxing. Why branch out into MMA? As for Cyborg, if she wants to have a career, Invicta is the only place that can happen at Featherweight, since it's such a crazy thin division. If she actually does manage the drop to BW, the only places she could get competition worth a damn are the UFC or Invicta again.

As for "several prominent figures in MMA" being offered employment, this cannot have been done directly with anyone under contract to the UFC or Bellator or even WSOF or else it's clear cut tortious interference. It could be done through feelers but that's hardly the same thing.

I'm sorry, but there's no fucking room in the market for a start-up to immediately jump into the fray with a bunch of stars on its roster. I'm not saying one couldn't mount a challenge to the UFC but this aint how you do it. You start small and establish the brand and poach stars as they become available and also stars who are credible, all while producing a consistently good product that has some alternative angle to the UFC. And even still you lose an assload of cash, you just lose less of it and you don't risk immediately losing your credibility. If Mayweather's backing this then he's got the money, and he'll be able to create some initial buzz, but that's as far as it goes.

PPV right off the bat?

And internet-based reality show?

Signing huge, expensive stars with no credible opponents, half of whom are way past their prime or retired?

This is a recipe for disaster. The best case scenario is that it will be fucking funny at least.

Even PunishmentFC had enough integrity to not to push something as ridiculous as Tito vs. Rampage when they had the chance.

I just don't see how investors would be willing to bleed as much money that is needed before turning a profit.

It's a big number. The UFC was just over 40 million in the hole before Griffin and Bonnar saved the ship.
