Saturday night at UFC 166 Gil Melendez and Diego Sanchez put on an extraordinary fight. with Melendez taking all three rounds on all three judge's scorecards, and Sanchez never giving up an inch.

"That's one of the best fights I've ever seen," said UFC President Dana White, as transcribed by MMAFightng.. "That was a Mexican world war in there tonight. These are two guys who just move forward and just keeping swinging. It's just awesome, man. In the 13 years of being in this company, we've seen some amazing fights. I don't think I've ever seen a fight like that. That fight was insane."

"It's obviously very fortunate for him that Pettis won, because he just came off a title shot against Henderson. Definitely, Gilbert Melendez is one of the best in the world."

"It definitely puts him back in the mix for the title shot."

What do you think UG? Who do you want to see Pettis fight next?

Since Gil arguably won the title, he was never out of the "mix." As Gil said, he was looking at this fight as his first title defense and considering he had everything to lose in that regards and was winning the fight handily, he should get HUGE PROPS for still brawling.

These are the guys currently in the LW mix:

- TJ Grant

- Melendez

- Dos Anjos

- Nurmegomedov

I would like to see TJ Grant vs Melendez and Dos Anjos vs Nurmegomedov.  And while that shakes out id like to see pettis vs Aldo.

155 title has been arguable ever since Edgar stole it. Pettis is the champ, and he finished the title holder. Gil didn't do anything but dance with Benson and try and outpoint a decision master... Phone Post
