On Wednesday, Stipe Miocic’s manager said his fighter, coming off a win over Roy Nelson, was looking for a match up with Gabriel Gonzaga. Gonzaga is coming off his second first round KO in four months, icing Dave Herman and Shawn Jordan.

Gonzaga’s manager and Team Link head coach, Marco Alvan told MMAFighting they are game.

"We are interested in any fight the UFC offers, and Stipe Miocic is a great fighter," said Alvan. "He’s well ranked in the UFC, he’s coming off a great win over Roy Nelson, and that fight makes sense for Gonzaga right now. It would be a great opportunity to get Gonzaga closer to the Top 5, and that’s what he wants."

"Stipe is a great fighter, we all know that, and he would be a great challenge, but Gonzaga has fought some of the best for a long time. Gonzaga believes in his striking and he would go there to try to knock him out. Gonzaga hits harder and has everything to add another knockout to his record."

"Gonzaga is coming off six consecutive wins. We accept that loss to Browne, but we don’t agree with it. We respect UFC’s decision, we respect the athletic commission, but we don’t agree with it. Just watch the fight. Nine out of 10 people would agree that those shots were illegal. We know that.

"He tied Frank Mir’s record of most finishes in the UFC heavyweight history*, and he wants to make history by being the first heavyweight to fight five times in a calendar year."

Two guys I like and I want Gonzaga's improbable KO streak to continue, so I don't like this fight. That said, it will be a good one if it happens. I've got Stipe. Phone Post 3.0

Gonzaga has improved his defense, and just because he's gotten tagged doesn't mean Stipe will knock him out.

I remember another fighter who got tagged a lot in previous fights and was counted out against Stipe

Gonzaga may have been fighting some of the best heavyweights for a long time, but he doesn't have a great record against them.
I like both fighters and think it's a great fight for both guys, I'd probably take Stipe though. Phone Post 3.0

Gonzaga is a very dangerous fighter early on as we have seen with Cro-Cop and some of his recent 1st Rd victories. But I could see a guy like Miocic picking him apart over the course of three rounds.
