Last week Tito Ortiz announced that he was injured and would be unable to compete at Bellator's inaugural PPV event scheduled for November 2nd. Bellator later announced the event would be moved off PPV and onto Spike TV without a suitable replacement for Rampage Jackson. Dana White was asked how he felt about the situation at the UFN 30 post-fight press conference and he answered in typical Dana White fashion:

"It's unfortunate," he said sarcastically at the post-event press conference for this past Saturday's UFC Fight Night 30 event. "It breaks my heart. Couldn't happen to a better bunch of guys."

Why do you lie in your thread titles?

The whole point of the thread is that he isn't heartbroken at all... which we already knew.

But you got my click.

Thread title is accurate. It's in quotes. Get your GEDs.

Anyhow, BLAF is almost childlike in his Schadenfreude for Bellator's woes, just because they are putting on good shows.

Dana White: The time is 1:00 pm Wednesday, August the 23rd
UFC 151 has expired with no possibly recovery.

Bjorn Rebney: Bellator PPV, fight card, a card barely
alive. Gentlemen, we can rebrand this. We
have Viacom money. We have the capability to
make MMA's first free PPV. Bellator PPV on
Spike will be the card. Better than it was
before.

I thought so, too. Maybe a mod corrected the title and added quotes since it was a UG News thread.

Wait... were people really misled by the title because heartbroken wasn't in quotes originally? Are you also aware that gullible is not in the dictionary?

It amazes me how people's genuine dislike of Dana White makes them blind to the fact that he's the best at what he does. You don't have to like him, you don't even have to respect him. But at least have the decency to admit that he's largely responsible for the sport being as popular as it is today.

If you can't give the man his due as a promoter because you're butthurt about him and Tito falling out, or Couture, or whatever, you really don't care about this sport. You don't have to like the guy but he's hands down the best promoter in combat sports today, other MMA promotions and boxing included. Don't like him but don't be delusional, it only hurts your own credibility as a fan.

Tito and Ken Shamrock went on TV the day before Tito pulled out of the fight, talking bad about him. OF COURSE he finds some karmic irony in Tito having to pull from the fight. What self respecting grown man wouldn't smirk a little at that? Nobody wants to see Tito hurt, but some of you act like he's not supposed to dislike people who talk shit about him every time they're in front of a camera.

To be fair, Dana's been supportive of other promotions in the past.  He always praised Coker, years before the acquisition.  He has some legit beef with Rampage, Tito AND Bellator.  It's a fucking hat trick of beef, and all for good reason.  Any normal person in Dana's shoes would see this as sweet Karma.  So he's being regular guy honest about it.  Is it better to be corporate guy fake? It's not like he's getting personal, he's just not masking his understandable glee.

Um I've read that Dana didn't want to do Ultimate Fighter but Frank and Lorenzo overruled him (loved American Casino btw). UF brought the UFC into public consciousness, which grew the sport to where it is now. So tell me again what Dana did to grow the sport? Phone Post

So Cindy, how can you agree that Dana had been the greatest promoter in history when he was hesitant on UF? The UfC was leaking cash until Frank and Lorenzo overruled him on TUF. I would think the brothers are the reason the UFC are where they are, in spite of Dana. Phone Post

I really enjoy Bellator. I was going to buy the PPV's to support them since they're doing their best to make it in a very difficult business to make it in.

When the shit hits the fan, and it WILL hit the fan. I'm talking about Karma catching up with all the douchebaggery that Dana has done over the years, it will hit HARD and FAST.

i would NOT want to be in DANA's shoes when Karma comes calling to even out the score. I'm sure Dana has done some really good things chairty wish that we don't alwasy find out about and he has done some cool things to help fighters but he's done a TON of mean, hateful, vengeful things that will come back to haunt him.

Because they didn't overrule him on a dayum thing. NONE of them wanted a REALITY show- like TUF or anything else- they wanted a weekly fight show like Friday Night Fights but couldn't get one from ANY network.

The Brotitta's had American Casino and were working with Craig Piligian already and doing something like an American Promoter type of reality show (DW vlogs were born from this concept and are successful because folks love behind the scenes stuff) would at least get MMA in peoples livingrooms. Bro's were down for it but DW didn't want the focus on him (he knows how he is-lol) so they kept at it and continued to try and pursue a weekly show of fights w/a ton of networks.

Spike got the AP pitch and liked it because they saw how the similar POV had kept AC on the air for 5-6 seasons so it looked like AP was going to have to be the Trojan horse to take them to the next level. But all of that changed in less than 24 hours before the big meeting when DW and HIS CREW hammered out TUF one night in a marathon gathering that wouldn't end until like 7:30 am. The end result was what has aired for 18 seasons now:)

Spike liked the AP concept so much that an entire season was filmed (in addition to TUF) and would have been new content for their network but DW pulled the plug on it a few years ago. Now he does his own vlogs (not UFC vlogs) and can say and do whatever he wants. He's much happier.

I know the cooler story goes something like DW didn't want it and the Bro's did so they told him to STFU and "overruled" him but that story couldn't be farther from the truth. They were going to have to do a reality show in order to get the UFC on the air and while none of them were pleased with the route they'd have to take to get there, they moved forward, made the most of it and it led to bigger and better things via live fight shows, talk shows, replays of PPV events, as well as the ability to air past fights via Unleashed.

Ask Lorenzo or someone from Spike in the know for the story. Its not like its impossible to do;)
