Megan Olivi was on location when Chuck Liddell was asked by a soldier asked to test how his body armor would stand up to one of Chuck's kicks.

no he got him all the way on the body armor, he just basically got him as low as he could while still just hitting the armor.

body armor stops the penetrating effect but does nothing for the impact.

its the difference between getting hit by a baseball traveling at 1000mph vs getting hit by a 6'x8' piece of plywood at the same speed.

one will go thru you, the other will drive you back.

and the kick might've hit half on/half off the armor at the bottom - can't really tell.

Im stationed at Fort Campbell, fucked up part is that 4th brigade is deployed and the last of us wont be returning until the beginning of december. so the people that are getting to enjoy this are the soldiers on rearD, or the cherrys that just got out of basic. damn this sucks i'll be miss this once in a lifetime opportunity...

that is a hard kick but surprisingly bad form for a pro fighter.  stood close so he made contact when his leg was in an L angled position (not full power since his leg wasn't close to being fully extended)  it's amazing how many top level fighters can't do a spinning back kick properly.  Rogan would have given that armor a better test

Got to love Chuck obviously he still trains hard and still has it.  If his chin didnt leave him he would be wrecking serious ass right now.

Can your chin recover from time off?

Aren't there different types of spinning back kicks from different striking martial arts?

Maybe you think he's tryin one type and doing it wrong, when in actuality, he's doin something else Phone Post

i'm talking from a physics standpoint.  not a TKD handbook standpoint.  you can't generate maximum power when your leg hasn't fully extended just like you can't throw as far when you let go of the ball while your arm is still half cocked.  when a proper spin kick reaches full extension from someone that knows the technique you can literally feel the wind thrust

Again, maybe the type of kick he was throwing didn't require full extension.
It may not be as.powerful, but maybe he wasn't going for that.

Like the difference between an uppercut or a shovel uppercut, so and and so forth Phone Post
