RT @dilletaunt #UFC168 follows #Boxing PPVs by upping its price to $59.95 from $54.95 for HD.

"I think it's going to be the biggest fight we've ever done," Dana White said.

"Bigger than UFC 100. On every level. Tickets, pay-per-views, everything. You're going to see a motivated Anderson, but what makes this so much fun is, what Anderson are you going to see? How is this thing going to go? That's such a big part of the fun."

Everytime I here Dana talking about UFC 168, he is never talking about Weidman, the Champ.

14 PPVs/year @ $60 = $840
Digital sub @ $15/month (guessing...maybe more)= $180
Premium cable add-on $8/month (low balling it) = $96

If you want to legally follow the UFC in 2014 plan to set aside at least ***$1116***

Let's not get into live shows, merch, traneing, video games, or forum memberships as those aren't required to be a UFC fan. Local shows and or other promotions we won't worry about either just to keep this UFC focused.

So, the target demographic is somewhere around 18 - 35 year old males most of which will have limited expendable income. In order to really follow the sport you have to watch as much as possible or else you start losing track of who's up and coming and what each division looks like - which is also made more difficult by an ever expanding number of divisions (which now includes women).

I've never run a business and the UFC has been insanely successful - clearly they know what they are doing. I guess I'm just confused on how this is supposed to work.

Got to figure Rousey, Weidman and Silva are getting a cut of the PPV. Maybe even Tate but doubtful. If each are getting $3 per buy that is $9 per buy going to just those three fighters not counting the rumored 50% to the providers which leaves Zuffa with $21 per buy to pay for the show. It doesn't shock me that the price went up.

It's only 5 more dollars people...it's not exactly breaking the bank. Plus, you can just watch it at a bar if you don't feel like paying for it.

PPV prices are up, Floyd is 70, the JMM/Bradley and Manny/Rios fights were 65.

UFC HD is 60.

So we have one title challenger coming off a loss, competing against someone who tapped her out in the first round, and a possibly unmotivated former champ who didn't seem at all interested in regaining his belt after losing it in his last fight.

Well, at least the rest of the card is decent

ZUffa held off on this way too long...  nobody is going to decide not to buy an event because it's priced at 59.95 instead of 54.95.  The first digit is what matters... zuffa and the distributorss have been leaving 5 dollars on the table all these years.

at 6,5m buys a year that's 32,5m total revenue per year in total revenue on the table.

You also have to consider inflation.

59.95 + tax

Won't even come close to UFC 100 numbers, the hype simply isn't there amongst the random sports fan.

Rousey is the only hope to make it a big PPV.

This. Dana is a fucking fan-boy, man.

A 'motivated' Anderson? Dude, he was motivated in their last fight but he got clocked.
