I know Faber cuts a bit over 20 pounds, which is especially a bunch for a guy who fights at 135 pounds.

Uncle Creepy cut from 150 to 125 for the second DJ fight I believe, and did 18 of those lbs in the 24 hours leading up to weigh ins. For those lighter weights, that's a lot to lose

Attila - Nobody "cuts" 60 pounds - that type of weight is shed off during training camp. A true weight cut generally starts around 24-48 hours before the weigh-ins. I've never heard of anyone even claiming more than 30 pounds, and I wouldn't believe them anyway.

You;re right on the 60lb thing but the "cuts" start much earlier than the 24/48 hours if you take into account dieting throughout the camp and monitoring months/weeks out?

Dieting is not the same thing as "cutting" weight, which involves shedding as much water weight as you can in a short period of time. It would be totally counterproductive to shed water weight a week before weigh-ins.
Thank you for knowing what youre talking about. Just had someone at the gym ask if their fight was booked for March cause they needed to "start their cut". I had to explain to them, "no...what youre gonna start is called a DIET! Your cut comes a few days out from the fight." Everything leading up to fight week is weight loss. Your "cut" is the drastic measues you take to get the final pounds off. Phone Post 3.0

Cut vs loss = semantics.

hendricks walks around at 220, that's shocking to me since he's pretty short for a WW.

losing 50 pounds during a training camp is insane even if it's with mike dolce.

Yea I heard he starts camps at 245 then gets down to 215 then cuts 30 lbs to make 185

Imagine what he used to cut when he fought at 170!

Usual practise is to walk around 15-20% over, lose 5-10% during camp and cut 10% for weigh ins. So someone fighting at 145 might walk at about 165-170, bring weight down to 160 during camp and then cut to 145.

Of course, everyone is different and we all know guys who do more or less but that's pretty standard.
