Since his devasting injury at UFC 168, Anderson Silva has been adamant that he does plan to return to the UFC, but before then he would like to live out his life long dream of boxing Roy Jones Jr.:

"When I get better, that’s my biggest goal, especially because I won’t be able to fight MMA too soon," Silva said when asked if he still wants to fight Jones. "Fighting in boxing is in my plans, yes, as soon as I’m able to fight again. And Roy is a big idol."

Silva’s family would prefer to see him quit fighting after the pair of losses to Weidman inside the Octagon, but that’s not an option for the Brazilian.

"I respect and understand their concern, but that’s something that has to come from my heart," he said. "That’s not in my plans. I’m focused in my recovery, but I want to get back as soon as possible. That’s who I am, it’s part of my history.

"I’m 100 percent positive that I will be back, but it’s not only up to me. They are helping my recovery and it is super positive thus far. But I need their feedback to be back at 100 percent. I don’t see myself doing other thing, at least for now. It’s not just fighting, it’s also training."

I think it's one of those things that should have happened earlier on in their careers, but being that Dana is considering this weird fight more and more now, I guess i'll support it. Maybe once it's out of the way, Anderson might lean towards retirement from fighting. Phone Post 3.0

Never had all that much interest in this figh, but if Silva really wants it, I guess that's his perogative.

More power to him.

CapnKindBud - He is so conceited ! Man that just makes me dislike him more.
RJJ is gonna beat the fuck out of him and it won't be close. Even an old version of him has forgot more about boxing than Silva knows.
The cockiness of some fighters cracks me up. Every MMA fan talks about how a boxer would get fucked up if they tried to get in the cage and fight MMA.
Same thing in boxing. Silva with a hurt leg which stops some movement will be a sitting duck for Jones.
Why did he not want to fight Bones Jones but he wants Roy Jones Jr?
Stupid Phone Post 3.0

Remember, RJJ really likes Silva. There is such a huge difference in skill level between them that I think Jones would probably carry him a bit.   I believe he would at least try to make it look competitive for a few rounds before blasting Anderson into the 5th row.

Now that Silva's lost two in a row this fight has a better chance of happening. Still a weird fight that I don't think ever goes down though. Phone Post 3.0

I wonder if he has a clause in his contract that allows him to take this fight? It's a little weird how he talks about this being his dream yet signing that huge new 10 fight contract is directly inhibiting him from ever accomplishing it. Phone Post 3.0

Lets see it

Would UFC promote a boxing match?

They could do a gimmick fight card with kickboxing and boxing matches, people would go nuts

Anderson/RJJ Boxing
Overeem/Hunt Kickboxing
Cung Le/Mousasi Kickboxing

Fill it out with brawls

Wont happen

UFC wont allow it especially for his first fight back, which will be big. Since he is aging and their biggest draw left, they'll probably throw guys like Rockhold, Jacare or Mousasi at him hoping they can win and boost their name.

Yawn. He only lost the second fight to an injury. It's not like he went out there lost a decision. Jeesh!

I agree!

I've always said Bisping only lost to Hendo because of an old recuring jaw injury.  It only looked bad because it surfaced again right when Henderson landed a girly punch overhand right.

Might as well have this fight already...when Silva is healed up and good to go. Been in talks for years now and tired of hearing about it. Let him have his fight.
