i don't believe that is true, and that PPV buy rates would not go up much at all if they cut the price in half permanently.

Bry Bry - "The product is just not worth the money anymore"

this is the bottom line..look at how many hardcores on here cant even justify paying for these events, much less joe blow down the street that doesnt really care about the sport..how do you make events worth watching though, do you cut ppv events in half and just stack every card?how do you build fighters up this way though as it doesnt seem like too many people are tuning into free Fight night cards...
Funny thing is most of the "hardcore" you speak of have been streaming since they became fans. Joe blow down the street order most until they join a forum and hear how the "hardcore" watch.

Too many of you are so full of shit about "I used to always order but now I don't". Stop lying. You rarely if ever ordered. If the UFC is so bad that it's not worth paying for, stop watching. If you guys thought you could actually get in trouble for streaming you wouldn't do it. That's why we hear the comments "they are hurting their fan base and alienating fans." Course you say that, it effects you if the threat becomes real. You either start ordering or miss the events. Life goes on either way. Phone Post 3.0

I can only speak for myself, but I would guess that you are completely wrong regarding "hardcore" fans. Personally, I was buying them monthly up from the 50's until around (or a bit before) 100. Then I was a lot more selective, then finally ceased all together. Within that range of PPV's, there was star power, great/competitive fights, much less point/safe fighting. Decisions for the most part were still exciting fights. I don't know if it was worth the money, but it was worth it to me at the time.

Now, it's fucking flat. Events are stale and coma inducing with one or two good fights (at best). I am going to pay for that? Plus their promoter shits all over the event after it's done... Overeem/Mir looked like a monster fighting an infant and baldy-locks is pissed at Overeem... LOL, what? So again, if streaming and torrents were completely stopped (good luck with that), I wouldn't pay for their product anyway. So, they're not losing a dime by my example of watching streams.

onandon - Would also like to add that if the UFC want to really combat piracy, they need to give us better access to their content at a fair price. So far UFC.tv / Fight Pass has been a bust, at least it has been in my own experience.

I'm in Australia and don't have cable because it just isn't that popular here. So if I want to catch the fights, I need to either head to the local pub or watch it online through UFC.tv.

My experience with UFC.tv / Fight Pass has been pretty shitty so far because there seems to be some exclusive broadcast agreement here with the cable TV company - so parts of cards are blacked out for us, whether we paid for them or not. It has happened to me with PPVs and the Fox/TV cards. When content is blacked out, I have no other option than to find a pirate stream.

If I'm paying for content through a monthly fee, making additional payments for Fox/TV events AND buying PPVs, then I expect to get ALL the content, not bits and pieces. If I'm dishing out that much cash to keep up to date, you need to bring me some value.
Same here brother.

The introduction of Fight Pass and it's black out restrictions has actually given us less access to content. I used to frequently purchase the the Fox/Fight Night cards through UFC.tv for $12 because I thought it was a fair price, now they expect me to pay $10/m for the prelims only, FUCK THAT, they're getting nothing from me now! Agreed! I just started a thread about how fight pass could reduce piracy if they gave us more content on it, including access to recent events. Phone Post 3.0

It's funny how these large companies create these artificial emergencies when they don't get every nickle they think they are entitled to. 10,000 people streamed this illegally so we are raising your rates because we should've made that money too. LOL. Yea, like they ever intended on buying it to begin with. They pay the fighters jack shit and now want them to give up sponsors.

UFC is committing suicide.

fuck u goof, you are flying in snow and I'm struggling to buy groceries.

If you would rather completely lose the fan so they stop talking about and promoting your product, you would lose even more money. The PPVs I've allegedly streamed I wouldn't of been able to afford anyway, you aren't losing any money on me. I support the UFC and their product as much as I possibly can, but you'd be insane to think poor fight fans can afford 60 dollars a month, on top of fight pass that we now have to have to keep up with all the fights, and also more expensive cable packages to get FS1/FS2.

Every single problem Dana has comes from having real business experience that I know of before the UFC.

UltraViolentRay - i love the assumption that everyone would be paying customers if they couldn't have gotten it for free.

i think they should assume that 0% of the people who "stole" it would have paid for it.

Just do what WWE does.

A monthly fee for access to everything, including PPVs.

You need Fightpass to watch the Chael/Wandy TUF season, right?

Well fuck that.

Exactly!

I'd be happy to pay the $10/m if I got to watch all the "Free Cards" live and the PPV's went into the library after a certain timeframe. Shit I'd even be inclined to buy the occasional PPV live and at full price knowing that I'd be able to access it and re-watch it at a later date. Unfortunately the greed of Zuffa is getting out of control and it makes me wanna do all I can to avoid giving them a cent of my money. Phone Post 3.0

They think that due to their inflated ego. They blame their drop in ppv buys on piracy, when in reality a high majority of people wouldn't have purchased the ppv anyways, and this has been going on for a long time.

The real reason for their drop in ppv buys has been the over-saturation of the market and dilution of card talent and names. But their success went to their heads to the point they thought fans would buy whatever they were selling, even if it was a 4-0 newcomer in a co-main event because his opponent had a wrestling rivalry with the guy. MMA fans are pretty dumb, but not that dumb.

Dana of all people should know that sometimes streaming actually brings more people to the brand. Hell after asking for the Pride stream he liked them so much he bought the company.

if the stream comes from some place where its not a PPV (Germany, Russia, Hong Kong, Australia, UK, Philippines, Brazil, and on and on, etc...) and you watch the commercials , is that bad?

HiHu - Everyone is talking about the streaming piracy but what about the dozens of torrents on the interwebs 2 hours after the event in 720p ?

:D :D

Its like the old pride days of keeping off the forum until you can watch the recording  :)

Rambo John J -

No other sport costs 600-1000 to follow per year.

Better have an amazing product to ask for such a price.

UFC no longer puts out that product.

170 card is a joke, discounts should be offered to PPV and ticketholders.  No joke.

MY GOD THIS TRUTH BOMB!

you are on fire RJJ ... keep going.

Somebody should ask Dana how many black-jack-hands worth of money they have lost to piracy. I would bet maybe three... Probably one or two though. Phone Post 3.0
