this is chris' most dangerous oppnent by far at 185 imo

I swear he fought Anderson Silva......twice.

Anderson is clearly an amazing fighter and arguably goat, but Chris is better where Silva isn't. We all knew Anderson's weakness was tdd, but no one put thought into how well his chin has been holding up as he has aged. Chris flash kod Silva in the second fight from Anderson's clinch. Hendo hit Anderson in the same manner when they fought, much more powerful shots, and Silva didn't flinch. You could say that Chris is a freakishly powerful ko artist if it makes me feel better, but let's be real.

Machida has the tdd and intelligence to avoid takedowns and focus on his stand up. I hate to say it but in this case I agree with Goku. This is Chris' most dangerous oppenent thus far, based on Machida being able to avoid going where Weidman is strongest at. If it stays standing, I don't see Chris winning this fight. Phone Post 3.0
My mistake. It was the Rivera fight I was thinking of.

Hendo did land a haymaker clean on the chin though.

Phone Post 3.0

LOL Hendo was hurt and falling back in the gif FFS. His full weight was not behind the punch (he was not steping into the punch). I've also broken down the other gif prior, those were arm punches, again the weight is not being put behind the punches, and they were thrown in the clinch, a better angle would also show AS sliding slightly too. I don't see the point as it pertains to this thread.

The Issue is 'getting to hit AS or Machida flush', with your 'weight behind the punch', this is not easy. But AS does NOT RUN (as described in my first post) from the point of where a counter punch takes place. There are huge differences, I do not think the comparison is fair to AS TBH.

Lol you're right it has nothing to do with the origin of this thread. You make points that I can agree with. I should reitirate that I'm not comparing the power or position of punches being thrown, more the way Anderson took them. All I'm saying is age plays a factor here.

Chin is decided by neck, back, and leg strength to a large extent. As these get weaker, the chin gets weaker. When your defenses erode from reduced stamina, you can't roll with punches as well too and you take more flush punches that you don't roll with or don't absorb.  This is simple science.

Now on that note, let's get back to the topic at hand. Phone Post 3.0

SQUEEZIE - cant believe so many think machida beats chris easy.mind blowing.

I don't think this fight is easy for either guy but Machida can definitely beat Weidman.

EVERYONE has problems with Machida including Jones, Jones is also way bigger then Machida and had the huge reach.

Machida fighting at his natural weight class which has made him even better and faster, he has looked great so far at MW.

This fight basically boils down to whether Weidman can get Machida down or at least make him fear the takedown so much that it throws Machida's striking off.

This fight is as close as it gets and going to be a great match up.

i think machida could win if he makes strictly a karate kick boxing match(even in this scenario,i think chris has a gd enough chin and more importantly is willing to risk taking a shot to give one.)obviously machida could rock him too.but i think chris hits harder and could take a harder shot.

i know machida has fantastic take down d but i see chris eventually getting his hands on him and dominating clinch and even more if gets the takedown.

i know machida is elusive and all but chris is the champ and doesent have to or need to chase him all over the octogon. his game plan should be to make machida come take the belt from him. not fighting the fight machida loves to fight...i dont think he is gonna chase him all over, get lolled to sleep and then get caught w a straight left coming in carelessly.

machida is going to have to scrap a little to win this.he is still a threat and could win but thats not his style and he is not as good when he ends up having to exchange more than he is use to or would like to.

Lyoto looking rather smaller than Weidman in this picture, Chris looks a lot "solider, thicker, tighter".

I dont know how Machida managed to do so well at LHW, he's a small MW, he looked smaller than Mousasi as well.

I guess I should just be taking care of business already but something is holding me back.

Machida is very difficult to deal with when he chooses to always move away and wait for his opponent to come forward and then he just strikes quickly at the moment of his choice and then moves swiftly away again from the area where he counters (unless his opponent is hurt).

I think Chris is in trouble here and if Machida can hit and run (and run and run and run and run & hit..............) without the passivity rule being called against him,  I'm guessing it's Machida's fight to lose. Machida is VERY tough to take down or to get a hold of even.

Fights came down to close decisions in Machida VS Page and Hendo, but IMO he has a clear edge in such a fight VS Weidman and I think it's the fight he intends to fight.

you know why are you being held back?

because you know machida has NOTHING for chris, but you are fucking butthurt over chris beating down anderson 2 times, but you want to start a post to take a stab at chris, but you are too much of a pussy to bet and throw away your money.

this is what i will do for you. loser leaves town bet. i got weidman.

machida barely beat kermit (who got roto-routered by mo) and lost to phil davis and rampage. while weidman dominated anderson 2x and KO'd him once and is undefeated.

your move.

I'm not a fan of AS. I do aknowledge his strengths and fighting skill though, i.e your post is from fuckin hunger man.

A lot of people saying chris is gonna wreck him, dominate etc... Care to describe how this happens. I just can't see it. Machida far to fast, far to slick. Either a one sided UD or he catches him clean coming in. Phone Post 3.0

comeonman1 - Haven't seen nearly enough of Weidman to think he is some kind of unbeatable beast like some people make him out to be.

Good bet on machida IMO

I've seen enough footy of machida to see that he can be knocked the fuck out and chocked the fuck out. Two things Weidman is very good at doing to people.
.

Remember there was no way Chris was going to beat Silva !!! LOL ! Phone Post 3.0

Most people in the know backed Weidman in that fight. Even the betting odds were pretty even. Only thing surprising was the way it happened. Phone Post 3.0
