So who are the greatest, naturally gifted athletes to ever fight at a high level in MMA? My short list (in no particular order) is:

BJ Penn
GSP
Nick Diaz
Fedor
Jon Jones
Brock Lesnar
Cain Velasquez
Vitor
Kevin Randleman

Mind you, guys like Kevin Jackson don't count because he never had success at the highest levels of MMA. This list is only of the top athletes who are/were top level fighters...

I don't see it that way. GSP and Diaz are good because they train very hard, they are amazing athlete because they train, they have discipline and dedictation.

BJ, Jones and Fedor are not good because they train 10 hours a day 365 days a year, ( they don't need to) but because they are naturaly gift, they are natural fighter, born with alien skills, just like Anderson Silva. Phone Post 3.0

Sugar Hay Hobinson - OP doesnt know what athlete means...

Nick isn't athletic, he just trains hard, has a good chin, long reach and uses it well.

Freak athletes are:

GSP
Vitor
Aldo
Woodley
Lombard
Jones
Roy Nelson, etc. Phone Post 3.0

You are an unsavable imbecile if you think a guy like Nick or Fedor aren't top level athletes just because they don't have bulging muscles that give you a boner....

kalt - Demetrious Johnson
Jon Jones
GSP

And for his size, Cain

Brock would tire after 3 minutes, so no, Brock is an impressive physical specimen but not athlete.

When has Brock ever gassed? I see people say this a lot, but other then the Cain fight, where he seemed to fall apart, his conditioning looked amazing. He didnt slow against Randy, 3 rounds with Heath etc.

People always knock Jon for his lack of punching power, but has he ever even tried to KO anyone with his hands? I mean like serious power punches? I've never seen it, I actually think he has pretty good power, maybe not HW type power, but he dropped Machida with a punch when they fought Phone Post 3.0

I'll probably get a lot of flack for bringing this up, but he absolutely destroyed shogun with them. Shogun took some bombs from hendo and didn't drop. Jones dismantled him like I've never seen.

He also rocked rashad, and he rocked rampage iirc. He's a powerful guy. Phone Post 3.0

Brock defines freak athlete - http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1830855

"The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Goliath, the guy who benches 475 pounds, squats 695 pounds, steamed."

"Lesnar ran the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds, a blistering time for a man his size. He has a 10-foot standing broad jump. A 35-inch vertical leap, not to mention the bench and squat numbers. It's the tools of an NFL running back power packed into a gladiator's frame."

If he took his career seriously and traned with dedication then he could have easily been top 10.

The punch he hit Noons with to KO him was brutal Phone Post 3.0
