Reus is a massive loss for ze Germans.I don't think that they have anyone to adequately replace what he brings to the team.

That said, they can still win of course. They're Germany after all.

Getting excited.

I managed to snag a vacation week next week, so the first full week of games.

So pumped for this tournament.

jman - Not doubting Germany is a monster team, just read online yesterday that they weren't doing well in the warm up games (no idea if that's true, just read some comments people posted).
They won 6 1 in their last one. Phone Post 3.0

If you consider Klose the only true striker, the midfield is insane. Schweinsteiger, Muller, Kroos, Goetze, Podolski, Schurlle, Khedira, Ozil... They also have Lahm listed as a mid.

If any team can withstand the loss of a player like Reus, it's Germany. Phone Post 3.0

Based on the atrocities from WW1 and WW2, I don't think Germany should be allowed to field a team in the World Cup.

The United States couldn't have been drawn into a worse group.

They face one of the favorites to win the entire tournament, Germany. They face arguably the best player in the world today, Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo. And they face the country that has knocked them out of the past two World Cups, Ghana.

Yikes.

From Bleacher:

If the group stages go as projected above, look for the following four teams to advance to the semifinals: Argentina (beating Switzerland and Portugal), Spain (beating Croatia and Uruguay), Brazil (beating Chile and Italy) and Germany (beating Russia and France).

Messi and company will be a tough matchup for Spain, as they will be able to disrupt Spain's tiki-taka passing in the midfield and pounce on them in the counter-attack. Meanwhile, the Germans play a disciplined style of football and have the creative talent going forward to beat Brazil in what could be the most entertaining and intriguing match of the entire tournament.

In the final, the Argentines will take home the trophy on South American soil, forever cementing Messi's legacy as one of the all-time greats.
