Barao's striking was overrated. His boxing in particular has always been mediocre and sloppy but because he was winning, people would hype him up.

I dare you to fight a world champ with your hands down and totally dominate him for 4 rounds.

And then on the fifth instead of coasting like everybody would he finished the champ.

He executed his gameplan and was in control the whole time. Phone Post 3.0

Dillashaw in addition to all the things I mentioned above, had great distance control.. He was always active when he was in Barao's danger range, or moving out of it when Barao pressed forward (as Cyboth said - that's how he got away with having his hands down!). And his feinting was on fucking point. TJ#1

raags - Straight up, if you think Cerrone and Barboza are better striker's than the TJ Dillashaw that demolished Barao from bell to bell tonight you have absolutely no clue about striking/MMA.

TJ looked absolutely phenomenal:
- variety of lead attacks, he lead successfully jab, rear straight, lead hook, leg kick, body kick - with most of these from both southpaw and orthodox stance
- fantastic movement, in terms of both the angles he attacked from and getting out on safe angles too
- consistently kept this up over 4.5 rounds
- did not (for the most part) get sucked into a brawl and stuck to his gameplan very well
- threw with power and had Barao very hurt at several points in the fight
- extremely quick
- did all this in the highest pressure fight against the best opponent of his entire career

TJ was near flawless tonight.

What impressed me was how he kept on turning barao, he was behind him many times thru the night

When we sat down with TJ to SHOOT this video, he told us (off camera) that he had reoccurring dreams of winning the belt. As a matter of fact, as he was telling us about this premonitions, he had goosebumps all over his arms and made reference to them. As I listened to him speak, I got this overwhelming feeling that he was going to win this fight, and told him so. TJ exudes a certain aura and confidence that was palatable, and all of us felt it. It might sound strange but having experienced it first hand, it is remarkable and surreal to actually see it come to fruition. Congrats to TJ Dillashaw!

TJ was near flawless tonight.

He fought like a converted grappler, albeit with more varied techniques. Very dependent upon lunging forward with barrages and then fleeing the counters, which only works when you're the more mobile fighter. He's a good fighter, but Barao isn't a great athlete TBH.

Imagine a scenario where Cruz was champ, and this was just another 135 lbs. fight. Imagine Rogan didn't say "P4P" 30 times during the fight to "catapult the propaganda" as Bush put it. Would we be reading this hysterical hyperbole about TJ's striking? I don't think so at all.
