from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2382396/

An ex-con, who is the unlikeliest of role models, meets a 15-year-old boy and is faced with the choice of redemption or ruin.

from nitey:

Joe is basically like Mac from One flew over the cuckoo's nest. He likes to fight & fuck too much. The dude especially hates the law & is down to fist fight most cops & anyone who fucks with him. He believes in hard work, hard play, love your dog & suprisingly is a pretty ethical person in most cases. He befriends a kid that is abused by his father, but who is a hard worker like himself & can kick ass sometimes & he respects that.

So, if you liked "Mud" you will definitely dig "Joe" which imo was the better movie.

Makes you remember how hhe became a star. If only he wasn't such a money hungry loon he could have done some real great movies over his career. FFS the guy did 5 movies in 2011 alone each one a bomb.

Raising Arizona is still one of the GOATs for me, but its not all him. That movie has a great story, cast & director.

He only did that because his business manager stole all his $$$ or 'lost' it all in 'investments'.

Cage has been virtually stone-ass broke for a while.

I read on Imdb that the dad was played by a homeless man given the part because the director likes to cast locals. He died on the streets of Austin a couple months after the film finished shooting. Phone Post 3.0

I liked the movie but LOL @ "love your dog." Yeah he loves his dog so much the dog lives outside on pavement on a 4ft chain it's whole life... except the occasion where he is nice enough to let the dog loose so it can be fought against other dogs.

Sweet dog lover he is.

I meant the character. Perfectly played & I guess I know why now. RIP.
