Ridiculous , owners of capital should get to reap the rewards of their investment . Screw the workers. They got what they agreed to work for. Phone Post 3.0

I think of those fast good jobs as stepping stones, part time jobs while one trains for something better. There is very little training requires, very low skill jobs. Should they compete with the much higher skilled higher requirements jobs?
I do think a modest increase in minimum wage would be good, not sure what, but maybe something like $8.50 -$9.00 an hour . Phone Post 3.0

Minimum wage increase without some sort of mandatory employment is a waste of time, and will only hurt the people who are just barely employed.

This is never addressed by these retarded fucks. They rarely have any first hand experience making minimum wage or employing people at minimum wage. They don't understand the advancements in automation and how cheap it has become. This isn't the 1950's where you can you raise minimum wage and the employers have no options. Its a global economy now Phone Post 3.0

of course! Who do those service industry minimum wage slaves of bad breeding which lack the luck of being born with advanced IQ and good parental guidance think they are?

Let them enjoy their low pay as they serve their masters when they visit their restaurants and shops to purchase goods......they make too much as it is and should be happy with their crumbs!

Starbucks is offering up to two years tuition, this is what the bottom feeders should be after, not trying to squeeze out a few extra cent's/dollars an hour to stay at some shitty dead end job.

Most of those morans have absolutely no ambition though.

Only people who barely make more than the proposed new minimum think like this. And it isn't even for reasons of economics. It's purely because they won't get to feel as superior to a whole group of people anymore. Phone Post 3.0

no, it's all the things we learned as children that teach us to be good and decent human beings.....things like sharing, don't be greedy, help others, etc...........things which adults seem to forget

I am not saying that a person should not live well if they can create that reality......but rising tide lifts all boats or something like that.....

yeah, because it's only okay when the government does what YOU need it to.....like determine who can and can't get married, smoke weed, own guns, etc ;)

I tend to agree. I'm not a huge fan of unions because of the way they are ran but collectively bargaining with employers is a better option. It still doesn't address the automation issue on the horizon for a lot of these workers. You don't have to look hard to see the jobs technology has replaced over the last 100 years. Eventually technology will win out but demanding more compensation just speeds up innovation Phone Post 3.0

you forgot work hard, hold yourself accountable for your actions, become self-reliant, and don't steal from others

you are right! That lady worked much harder for her multi-million dollar condo than those peasants working their shifts at her Wal-Mart empire ;)

karasu is someone who never struggled in life and now feels guilty because of it. We all agree minimum wage isn't a living wage but you can't just snap your fingers and turn it into one. Sure it may help a few in the short term but look long term and there are obvious problems with this type of thinking.

You want to fix the lower class? No more billion dollar drone programs and cheaper education. I don't see any of you über liberals screaming about how education prices have risen compared to inflation and how its enslaving a whole generation. Say you want to sell a tool box worth $50 for $100, if you just slap a $100 price tag on the box no one will buy it but if you add a couple tools to that same box you have a much better chance of getting the $100 you want.
