I was reading my Nippon Sports Mook 72 (Kakutougi and Grappling Data File), which I got from Kinokuniya NYC, and looked through to see that it looks like there are alot of different kakutougi organizations in Japan. I can kinda guess that Aikido SA is a Sport Aikido event, but what are the rules? I know Zendokai is a well-known MMA gym but do they also have their own kind of event? Is Toryu Hisae a Sanshou-offshoot started by Japanese Wushu guys? Lastly, what is JTC? Thanks for the future responses guys.

JTC iirc is like an amateur event for Japanese fighters to gain a name in and eventually fight in Pancrase,Deep,Shooto or ZST.

Yes Zendokai holds their own MMA events. I think it's pretty much like the 1st UFC rules, but I may be wrong. IMO, Toryu Hisai is the funniest martial arts competition ever existed on the earth. The founder is a big fan of Chinese kung fu movies and obviously a Jacky Chan wanna-be. (That's why his students are trying to use the drunken monkey moves...) They create the rules assuming "all the possible real fight situations." But most of them are not the simulation of the real world, but of the movie fantasy. As you can see in the video, the blindfold match assumes that you have to fight in the cave, or in the fog. The handcuff match assumes that you are handcuffed by some bad guys and have to escape. The fight on the narrow platform assumes that you are fighting on the suspension bridge... The rules of the Aikido SA tourney are fxxkin' complicated. Strikings are allowed but very very limited. (Kicks and Open-hand strikes only. No strikes to the face. No more than 2 combination blows. You can not do hit-and-run, for the main purpose here is to submit your opponent with your Aikido techniques.) You can use all the Aikido throws, but neither Judo throws (grabbing your opponent's gi), nor wrestling takedowns (holding your opponent) are allowed. No leg sweeps. No ground fights, but you can submit your opponent only when you are on your feet, or on your one knee (not knees).
