Hi Chris, Just watched your last fight at Bushido 2. Even though Takase was good at staying on top, I really enjoyed the bjj skills you showed, especially the way you would go for stuff at the slightest opening. I noticed at two points you looked like you were going for something akin to Bravo's 'meat-hook' setup and was wondering what caused you to change from them? Were they being blocked, or did you think they would take too long? Or something else?

(Sorry, 'meat hook' as in the triangle setup--the announcers mentioned it being 'Nino' like)

Yeah I was kinda setting up an Uma Plata or triangle or actually just trying to get him to move but I couldn't get his head off my chest. He was keeping it burried. I have a grip of shit from there but it is hard if the guy won't move at all.

Thanks Chris! He was being very conservative and methodical for sure. Personally, with MMA being a spectator sport, it is not a style I enjoy watching (I would rather watch a fighter again who lost spectacularly than one who won by lay&pray, sprawl&stall, etc.) I found it strange they didn't stand it up at all. But I guess you're stuck with the hand you're dealt and again, I enjoy your fights and will definately watch you again.

Thank you very much. I am hoping to rock in the next one and I don't care what happens as a result as long as I don't end up on the bottom again.

Chris, You looked very good in that fight. Takase has a rather unorthodox style and played a very tight game. The fight should have been stood up, but they are not going to do that with a Japanese guy in control. Stephen Carnes

At the end of the fight when you are both standing next to the Ref., that guy looked way bigger than you. Knowing you height and weight, I would have estimated that he was about 6' 200 lbs. It seemed during the fight that there was a big size difference. Was there? Pride seems to like these size mismatches... Silva's opponent looked a lot smaller also. Gomi's opponent looked a lot smaller also.

Both Gomi's and Silva's opponents were smaller. I am not sure on Takse and I. He seemed bigger and was definalty much taller. he looked a lot bigger on TV last night but I am not sure. ... are you on?

You were listed as 155, Chris, and Takase was listed around 167. But he looked closer to 180. I counted 5 matches where the winner outweighed his opponent by more than 10 pounds, not including Gomi. Silva, Shogun, Takase, Sperry and Rodrigo all had a significant-looking size advantage... Do they even HAVE weigh-ins over there???
