I am moving to Tokyo Sept. 3rd. I am looking for a place to train near Nerima-ku. Jumping on a bus or a train is no problen. I just would like something not to much of a commute. Thanks Lance

Welcome to Japan when you get here:) How long you gonna stay? Gonna teach english? Not sure where Nerima is. But pretty sure you wont have probs finding good gyms. How long are you willing to travel by train to the gym?

Hi Silk, Will be staying for a year. My Sons mother will be teaching at an international school. I have a small company in California that I will return to for short trips every 6 weeks or so. Nerima is in N.W. Tokyo. Lance

You`re in luck! Yuki nakai`s paraestra tokyo is one stop from nerima station on the oedo subway line in shin-egota. Mostly BJJ - some of the best in japan turn up for the day time trainings - but also no-gi and striking classes. I train there about once or twice a week and it takes me 1.5 hours to get there! If you`re interested just walk out the main exit of shin egota station and turn left, then turn left again when you get to the convenience store and it is about 10 metres down the street in a basement. Look on the letter boxes for the paraestra logo.

Depends if Im injured or not(usually am recovering from surgeries lol) Mostly train at Cesars Gym in Asakusa(Shootboxing), and then WK (Wajyutsu Keishukai) in Ochanomizu and RJW in Iidabashi. From what I've gathered, Paraestra and WK do not like each other very much. Not sure why

I don't train at all but I know some place to train. The most famous gym is Paraestra Tokyo. You can go to Nakano station by bus maybe. Chuteboxe Japan is in Nakano-ku (it isn't Nerima-ku...). If you write the near station from your home, I will tell you something more.

Thanks Yuki, I'm here in Japan. I am next to Iogi station on the Seibu/ Shinjuku line and Nerimatakanodai on the Seibu/Ikebukuro line. Anything you can let me know is great.

maceanderson - sorry for the lateness in reply. Not sure where your station is:( Here are some gyms: Wajyutsu Keishukai (WK) is at Ochanumizu station (Sobu line) RJW is at Iidabashi station (same line as WK, 2 stations away) Both of those are between 28 and 22 minutes away by train from Iogi station. Both are part of the WK Network. Here is a link for the gyms in the Network and also shows which pro fighters train there(in japanese though). If you train at one of the gyms you can train at the others too. http://www.g-c-m.net/2wk_network/tokyo.html Here is a list of some gyms in Japan (from SFUK): http://sfuk.tripod.com/sfukguide/japan_bible5.html Also, GRABAKA is somewhere in Shinjuku, and Kiguchi's (where Gomi trains) is somewhere in Kanagawa if memory serves correctly TK's gym "G-Square" is in Mita (shirokane takanawa station). A lot of pro's train there too (phone number: 03 3280 5557) Also maceanderson, if you can then come and watch the Shootboxing S-Cup on the 19th of September!! It will be in Yokohama and will kick ass! Albert Kraus and Jens Pulver are in it. if you need any help then email me at timuli@fightlink.com I'll buy the first Tequila;)

Lance - do what I did. Best thing I ever did in Japan. Get an English version of the rail and subway system. Then you can go any and everywhere, and you will realize how easy it is too! feel free to email if you need anything or have qu's.
