Word on the street is that these two might face each other at the Pride New Years Eve show. Last time they faced each other 10 years ago in a Judo bout. Who's your money on?

zzzzzzzzz Word on the street also was that Yoshida wanted to face Nogueira and god knows who else. Get real, both of those clowns hate losing and only seem to do worked fights, or, in Yoshida's case, he might fight someone much lighter than him, but even then he must try to cheat.

Ogawa would crush him. He's almost as good at judo, better at striking, and MUCH larger.

"It would be the first time in a LOOOOONNNNGGGG time that 2 Japanese heavyweights had legitimate claims to stake as contenders" LOL! When did Ogawa become a legitimate contender?!! The Ogawa stuff has gotten out of hand lately. Ogawa is a can. 100% pure crushed tomato. Beating a terrible sumo and working (WORKING!!!) a fight against Leko does NOT make you a contender.

Who would win? Dunno. All you'd have to do is get your hands on the script to find out though. I'd say Yoshida wins by disqualification after Ogawa hits him in the head with a folding chair.

lol at Ogawa being "almost as good as Yoshida at Judo". Ogawa (in his prime) destroyed Yoshida (in his prime) in Judo.

I based my comment of Ogawa being "almost" as good as Yoshida simply on the fact that he won silver while Yoshida won gold. It's obviously not directly comparable though, as they were in two different weight classes.

DangerMouse, Are you sure? I am pretty sure Ogawa won convincingly. As far as accomplishments in the sport, a World Championship is just as difficult (if not MORE difficult) to win than Olympic Gold. Ogawa = 4 World Championships, 1 Olympic Silver Yoshida = 1 World Championship, 1 Olympic Gold And Ogawa was in a tougher weight catergory. EVERY Japanese judo player that I know from that era (all of whom saw both competitors live) have told me that Ogawa, not Yoshida, was the better player. By far.

Yoshida beat Ogawa in the semi-finals of the All Japan Championships by majority decision. Yoshida lost in the finals to Konno. Back then, Yoshida was a -78kg fighter. Neither fighter scored in the match.

Hidehiko Yoshida beat Naoya Ogawa by decision in judo competition. Yoshida was 90 kg while Ogawa was 130 kg. It was in the semifinal of the 1994 All Japan Judo Championships(open weight class). If the fight happens it will be interesting to see who wears a gi and who doesnt. Can Yoshida fight without a gi? As much as I hate Ogawa, I think he might take this one. He has been boxing way longer than Yoshida and is stronger. Grappling they are both good. For uchimatafan:
