i am also curious about the "Foot lift" and the "Knee lift" sweeps. are these on your instructionals (i have all of your instructionals)? i ask because you have mentioned these as either being 'the most basic' or 'the best' on other threads. thanks.

Hello demandango, Sorry for the lengthy delay. These past few months have been crazy! The mechanics of the thigh sweep are the same as the scissors sweep. The only difference is pressure is applied to the thighs instead. The foot lift sweep is also called the "elevator sweep." The knee sweep is also called the reverse scissors sweep. I don't remember if I put these on any of my instructionals. Maybe its on BJJ 201 DVD, but I am not sure. It's been so long since I've filmed those projects. I am currently in Norway, but will look into it when I return to San Diego. Roy Harris

The foot lift sweep appears in BJJ 201. The knee lift aka the reverse scissor sweep is not taught in sweep form in any media. A variation of it appears in Takedowns from the Knees as #3 of the fall-backwards series. It also appears in sweep form during the sparring matches at the end of the same tape. The thigh sweep does not appear in any of the videos or DVDs. It is on the website, but only accessible by HI instructors. ~TT, your friendly JR Archivist ;-)

"The mechanics of the thigh sweep are the same as the scissors sweep. The only difference is pressure is applied to the thighs instead. " is this the variation of the scissor sweep in where you kick his thigh to break his base?
