655321....what are you editing on? Did you do the shooting as well? Sounds pretty exciting working on that doc.

Lynn, I do most of my editing on my Sony Vaio VGN-A190 (17" model) laptop now. I also have a Vaio desktop. I'm using the Adobe suite but have other programs to include two Avid systems. I shot FFC 10, subcontracted FFC 11 (had to be at the Reality Combat "Dual in the Delta" the same weekend - shot this one). FFC 9 was shot by the casino. The prison ministry documentary was shot by the people involved, I'm just editing it. I'm getting ready to capture the tapes now - have to clear out some gigs. I just picked up a gig editing wedding videos for a local photography studio. It should bring in an extra couple hundred a week (maybe more). BTW, I do video on the side, my day job is P.I. work - insurance claims mostley. I sometimes fill in for our video "editor" (we can't really edit the video's) at the office.

655321...that sounds pretty solid. You ever read any books by Kinky Friedman? (P.I. books that are pretty funny) I gave my mother my Vaio laptop when I shifted over to mac. It was a great computer, I just wanted to switch to a Mac format. I like Final Cut Pro to edit on.

Unfortunately I don't read much - just don't have much spare time. When I do read, it's usually got something to with one of the programs I'm using. I'd like to be able to switch over to Mac and FC - just don't have the money. I still have a lot of equipment to buy before I'm fully set up the way I'd like to be.

Slick...Festivals are definitely a great way to get exposure for your project. Pick up the book "The Ultimate Film Festival Guide" 3rd edition. This will help a ton. Do you want to do docs in the future? I am moving through this one pretty smoothly. Last night we solidified some travel dates for new shoots. I'm also in pre-production on a couple of other docs and about to shoot a short. It is a busy time right now for me.

I haven't shot anything in over 10 years (though I was voted one of the "hottest young Cinematog's" by Filmmaker magazine 10 years ago). But one of my documentary "Hole in the Head" was on TLC recently. :-)

I'm pretty much just working on some scripts right now. Starting film school next fall after I get out of the AF.

During the day, I am the lead editor on Playboy TV's "5 Deadly Videos" which is a hip-hop music video show. I'm supposed to be doing a highlight for Ken Shamrock, although I haven't been mailed the footage yet. Aside from that, I'm in the VERY early stages of a top motion animation short I'm doing, fight choreography for somebody else's short, and I'm thinking about doing a documentary about Eddie Bravo's journey to Abu Dhabi 2005. Lynn, what other stuff are you working on? Ed Doty Life in the Cage Director

Dragon...where are you stationed? What program are you writing your scripts on? I'm stationed at Peterson Air Force Base in Colo. Sprgs. Using Word to write. Don't have Final Draft or anything fancy like that.

What system are you on? I may be able to find a word template for you to use that will make Word similar to Final Draft.
