I received a Magnavox DVD/video recorder for Christmas. I want to use it to transfer my VHS tapes to DVD so I can watch them on my Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop while I'm traveling. I just transferred one tape to DVD+R, and my laptop doesn't detect a disc in the DVD drive when I put it in there. Any suggestions?

Short of the obvious "RTFM", videohelp.com will tell you all things DVD. Expect to spend quite a bit of time getting a grip on everything. -r

Pick up a ADVC-100 by Canopus and that will do it for you. I use an ADVC-300 and it works like a charm transfering Analog to Digital.
