Just wondering what some of the standard prices are for training over in Japan. I plan on relocating there through an eikawa or the JET program in 2006 and would like to continue my training. Also, what are prices/availability for weight training? Also, are there any experiences of those on a similar program or contract competing for MMA promotions while over there? Thanks alot.

Most BJJ gyms cost you about 10,000 Yen per month. Axis JJ will cost you 15,000 for unlimited classes. Most MMA Gyms will cost you 10,000 Yen per month. Most Weight type gyms (Golds, Tipness, etc) cost about 10,000 Yen per month.

Do many MMA gyms also have weight equipment as well? I know it is pretty common here in the U.S. for an MMA/BJJ place to have a bench, squat rack, free weights, etc. but is it as common in Japan? Thanks so far Paul!

Enson's gyms have a nice set up - good weight equipment and stuff. Some do, some don't. Cesars gym has some weight equipment, but space is very limited, so most just use the bench press and bicycle. Several of the WK Network gyms have some freeweights, but for the most part no serious equipment anybody uses. Only been to one Paraestra gym, and saw no major equipment there.
