Some of the works by Franz Fanon has some terrorist-type undertones.

I can't remember her name, but there is one lawyer who represents terrorists, including the mastermind of the '93 NYC WTC bombing. I'm sure you can find her name on Google somehow. You can agree with her or disagree, but she is quite eloquent in defending her clients and explaining why she does what she does.

Im interested to read anyone on the subject. The stuff ive found so far by Chomsky is garbage. Sadly, I feel that my generation will be defined by our experiences and replies to terrorism.

I'll have to double check the reference but check out Cooper's "New Political Religions or an Analysis of Modern Terrorism." It is literally hot off the press and is quite interesting.

my citation is correct. the book is really the first of its kind (that i know of) to look at modern terrorism from a political philosophy viewpoint. let me know what you think if you do pick it up.

to be fair, have you read the Old Testament? That book can be pretty fucked up too. and I also don´t think that you can make any conclusions about a minority in a religion from reading a book.

I'm unsure what you're asking for FiatLux. I could recommend some things, but I'm unclear what it is you are looking for.

The original philosopher of terrorism in my opinion Robespierre Every one else is derivative - In a nutshell We are right and if everyone does as we say the world will be a wonderful place with no suffering. If anyone opposes us, they should be killed or scared into not opposing us. Any harm to these people is justified by the wonderful world that will be created after our successful transformation of society.

sorry forgot to report back but I got an A on my paper. The only real philosophy was some brief references to game theory. I'm pretty burned out on terrorism as an academic subject honestly.

I've taken an interest in counterinsergency lately. Which to me, seems like large scale counterterrorism. If anyone is interested there is a very solid book written by John Nagl: http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Eat-Soup-Knife-Counterinsurgency/dp/0226567702/sr=1-1/qid=1160816167/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-9445441-5106531?ie=UTF8&s=books

I would ask the same question as scarf. That being said. A good place to start when thinking about the philosophy of terrorism is to ask: What is the difference between "legitimate self defense" and "unwarrented agression"?

Nazi Party * "The broad mass of the nation ... will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one." -- Adolf Hitler, in his 1925 book Mein Kampf. * "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." -- Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels.[6] * "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." -- Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Göring while in his jail cell during the Nuremberg Trials[7]

In reference to my previous post, I see a disturbing connection between the actions of the Nazi Party and the Bush administration. Who are the real terrorists?
