Defensive Arts Training Center in St. Catharines, ON, is honestly the best place to train MMA in the Western New York/Ontario Region. I'm not getting anything for posting this, but it should be known. I've been to every MMA/BJJ/Boxing/Kickboxing place in Western New York, and I can honestly attest to this fact. Some may say that it's too far, but trust me it's worth the drive for the instruction. I drive an hour one way just to get there, and I'm not what many would consider a dedicated MMA practitioner, but the instruction is worth it. If you have ANY questions about it you can e-mail me at emaichbe03@aol.com, or contact the owner and instructor, Gerry at DATC67@hotmail.com. E-mail me and just ask me where I've trained, and how it rates in comparison to Defensive Arts Training Center. If your serious about improving any part of your MMA game, this is the place to go, hands down.

To my new student Marty Thank-you very much for these kind words. I appreciate very much and would like to personally thank-you. I know the drive is long so I want to make sure what you learn is always sound fighting techniques. Whether it is strike, grappling, clinch, whatever. I love to teach. I would love to invite all mma guys from Buffalo to train. What I do with everyone is first I give a free private lesson to allow people the opportunity to freely ask questions, evaluate me as an instructor and at the same time I evaluate the student to see if he/she is a prefect fit for the club. I have had people come in and only want to hurt others. Then after the private everyone then gets a free class to see the dynamics of a live lesson. Last is the discussion of price. So call me and lets start developing a great fight team. Thank-you again Gerry DiSanto DEFENSIVE ARTS TRAINING CENTRE 17 KING STREET ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO (905) 704-0374

I have to add my praises for Gerry and his school in St. Catharines. I trained with him there today and it was great. Gerry is a very professional, talented, no b.s. but easy going guy. In a little more than an hour I learned a ton of things and we "sparred" a little at the end and in just a short time of sparring I felt like I reinforced everything he taught me.(In addition to realizing just how out of shape I am) He is a very good and strong submission grappler. I highly recommend his place. It was clean and had great mats--not too soft and not too hard.Just right. St. Catharines was only a 35 minute drive for me from downtown Buffalo. I recommend this place to all Buffalo guys looking for bjj or submission wrestling. I believe Gerry also does MMA and I am sure that is great as well. Some of his students have competed in MMA . By the way I am just saying this on my own. After we were done working out I told Gerry that I'd have to post the good news on the forum and he just chuckled. But I am doing it anyway. Give his place a try.

How far are you from Ft. Drum? I am moving there in January, and looking for a place to train.

Ft Drum is probably about 4-4.5 hours away from St Catherines, driving pretty fast. Buffalo, which you would go through, is 3.5-4 hours from Ft Drum (to give some perspective for the distance/location). Syracuse is the closest major city (I really can't count Watertown) to Ft Drum.
