I have hit airport bars at all hours of the day and night. Last time I flew I got plastered at an airport bar at 10 in the morning.

3 hours??? that's NOTHING! Last week I flew home from San Diego, and the airline messed up my connection, so I was stranded AT THE AIRPORT in DC from 9:30 PM until 6 AM. No hotel room, no luggage, just sitting at the ice-cold gate in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. THAT sucked!

lol @ 3 hours! Amateurs... I've been delayed by entire days. I've been to a shitload of airports across the world, but I'd have to say my favorite is Vancouver for some reason. It's got nice bars, restaurants, and stores, and they're all affordable. Prices are pretty much like anywhere else you might go in the city, and not the typically inflated airport prices.

pigpen, their conclusion is that the big carriers sell the most tickets by bringing all their hub connections close together on paper. i.e. if it looks like there isn't going to be a long layover, more consumers will buy, even though the carriers can't possibly provide the advertised service. That, & they save money by running all their services together, but the article doesn't go into much depth about that. Sounds like fraudulent advertising to me. -r

"worst airport in the world: Detroit" most Michigan airports suck, but Detroit isn't that bad, it's just old.

You just have to know where to look. There is usually something interesting in most airports if you know where to look. In Phoenix Sky Harbor, there are pay showers, like a truck stop! Las Vegas has a gym in the airport! I found a used bookstore in an airport once.

Yeah, check over in Terminal 2. You have to go past the security check points, though. Classic spot for a quickie at the airport for travellers and employees both.
