I hate this EVERY time.
I'm registering for Physics 111. There's a 111 lecture and a 111 recitation. There's only one of each in the semester.
The lecture is open, I got right in. The recitation is closed, full.
HOW THE FUCK CAN THAT BE? Only people in the 111LC can take the 111RC. Are there more lecture seats than recitation seats?! Are dumbasses in the 110 lecture signing up for the 111 recitation?!

AAARRRGGGGHHH!!!

I have never had a single pass at registering go smoothly. There's always some fucked up situation that never makes sense to me. Every 4 months, I come close to nervous breakdown with this crap.

Just fuckin show up for the recitations. Everybody will be there the first day, then on the second day maybe half will be left. Trust me, this is how it goes with recitation classes.

I have no clue. I've never had one before. The physics classes are all 3 parts, lecture, lab, and recitation.

Just fuckin show up for the recitations.
Thanks for the advice. I'll do that if my beg-and-sweettalk-the-department-secretary strategy doesn't pan out.

Beg-and-sweettalk worked. Since she's the secretary for the department I'm majoring in, I think I'm going to be doing a whole lot of that over the years.

In recitation, you have the opportunity to ask the TA about HW questions and such. Usually there are too many students in the lecture section to have this type of format.

The funny part about this one is that the recitation has the exact same number of students as the lecture. There's only one Physics111 lecture and only one Physics111 recitation. Since the rec is required to take the lec, it should have the same number of students. Maybe they'll split us up in to groups or something.

Of course, my registration hassles aren't over, either. I discovered that I overpaid them last semester, but they didn't credit the balance to this semester. I called to ask where my money was, and they told me they mailed me a check.
When I asked if they could cut me another one, they said that maybe it was just taking a long time to go three miles from the school to my house. Like, a month long time.

I think one of the things school teaches you is how to deal with a bureaucracy of disinterested morons.
