Any of you guys use this? It is definitely a sweet package. I've had it for awhile but haven't really talked about it on here. Just thought I would toss this up for some discussion to try to make this board come to life some. Let's try to get it moving.

I've had it for awhile but have never used it. I WAS going to use it on a prison ministry documentary I edited but never got around to trying it. Most of the other work I do is either fight shows or weddings and I haven't thought of a good use for it in either.

Yes, I do Lynn. Its great but very slow renders, and the worst thing is that I will be using some of the filters on long clips. Yikes! It might take 1 or 3 days total render time.

ReneH... I'm with you on the slow renders. I will have a sequence that will be around 30 minutes long and it will be hours of render time. Luckily I have 2 systems that I can work on otherwise I would be hating it. 655321....How did your prison doc come out? I would love to see it when it is available.

Lynn, it's finished now (I think). I just turned the master over for approval. I'm not happy with the way it turned out. Originally it was to be a basic clean up edit - the day/activities were shot in sequence. I agreed to $400 for the edit before seeing any of the tapes (there was a bunch of them). It turned out to be much more work than a clean up edit. The camera work was terrible which made the cutting difficult. I did the best I could. Considering what I had to work with and the budget, it's okay but nothing I would want to show anybody. If I get into doing another one of these I'll have to be involved in the shooting.

Glad to hear it is completed but damn, $400? Are you serious? Are you getting points on it as well? Do you have a backend agreement in place? Did you provide all of the editing equipment? I think I know the project that you did. I think I know the others who were involved in it, not sure though. It sounds like the project that we were talking about on the phone.

Look at Ultimate S for films looks, it uses Vegas's built in processing engine to do the looksn and its a whole lot cheaper. Vegas has its own tweaking filters/colorizers that you can emulate MB filters with a little recipe hunting.

Lynn,Demi I'm working on a doc involving the EPA, a contaminated neighborhood, a chemcial plant, a noted scientist toxicologist, a congressman and terrible medical ailments all rolled up into one big environmental mess. I'll share some clips later as I'm busy shooting video left and right. BTW, any panny DVX100a shooters here?

Lynn, yeah I know $400 was low but all I was expecting to do was make cuts between scenes, basic titling, and basic audio work. It turned out to be a lot more than that though. I got the project from Rob Braniff of the FFC. He was involved with the program but it was a Forgiven Ministries project. I was happy to get the work and because of my video involvement with the FFC (not to mention that it's a good cause), I figured I'd give them a good deal. If you want to see some of my work check out the TUF forum under the Kenny Stevens video thread. The second camera angle sucked but I was forced into that one.

ReneH...I shoot on the DVX100 and also use the XL2 for some shots. I prefer the DVX100 though. Sounds like a cool project. I'm definitely interested in hearing more about it. 655321...I thought that was the project you were talking about. I was talking with Rob about it on the phone the other day. Sounds cool. He sent me some FFC videos and the Kings one this past week. Did you do any of the work on those? I'll check out the thread on the TUF forum.

Lynn, those FFC dvd's are likely to be my work. The Kings dvd definately is. John Pack did one or two earlier FFC shows the rest were done by me. I probably don't have any tags on them to indentify myself though.

Hey Rene, Great to see your doing DV work! Too bad it's on a substandard system, LOL!!! Sounds like you have a heck of a project going. My brother and I started a production company awhile back. My DVDs have been doing very well for the past 4 - 5 years and he got into it about two years ago. He makes some crazy European travel DVDs (www.amazingamsterdam.com) and I do his post production. He is going back to Amsterdam next month to get more footage for a project that's half way done. I'm currently working on a shred guitar instructional DVD as well. There are several general interest projects on the table too. Our new video production site is : www.independentkoncepts.com I will have some video clips up soon. Demi

cool. I'll be checking those out next week. I watch one already and it was put together well. I would say I'd watch them this weekend but I'm shooting a music video all weekend. Should be interesting given that it's going to be shot in the Boogie Down Bronx in the middle of the night in some treacherous areas...lol.

Jaykub...yeah it is pretty sick on the render times, but the pay off is worth it IMO
