I am a sophomore at Purdue University, and although I considered pursuing a Liberal Arts major, I recently have been thinking alot about a CGT degree (computer graphics technology). My friends claim getting a Liberal arts degree is of no worth in the corporate world, and that liberal arts majors will probably end up being trained in a computer related position anywhoo. I also live near Chicago, so I figured "going where the job takes me" won't be much a problem; I want to stay near home. What are your opinions on the computer graphic related field, and job availability after college?

I worked as a graphic designer, specifically multimedia and webdesign, for a number of years. In my experience the job market got flooded after the dot com bottomed out. I was freelancing for awhile, but ended up going back to the insurance industry to pay my bills.
