I have mainly knowledge of photography through using SLR 35mm cameras and I am interested in learning digital/videography. Are there any good books or sources that give a good background on it?

"The 5 C's of Cinematography" by Mascelli is a great book. It really depends on what you are looking for in the book. You will need a broad spectrum of knowledge to be a solid videographer. Another great book is "Placing Shadows: Lighting Techniques for Video Production" by Gloman/ LeTourneau.
