How long had you been training before your first sanctioned fight?

In the mid 90's I put together a marketing video of myself and "won" a fight in Amsterdam against the European Full Contact Karate Champion and Dutch Heavyweight KickBoxing (maybe Muay Thai,I forget) Champion ("Free Fight" or Pancrase" rules). This was after about six months of Aikido lessons. He only outweighed me by about 40-50 pounds, so I figured my Steven Segal-like wristlocks would bring him to his knees weeping. This is an example of what NOT to do (and I am afraid it is all true). Although I did get to go to Amsterdam for free, so that was cool. Oh, and I was pretty much a human punching bag for ten minutes. Yes, I lost.

I did about 3 or 4 months of MMA training before my first (and only!) fight.

Only if you count backyard wrestling. Once you can take a chairshot or a lighttube to the face, stepping into a ring is nothing.

I heard he's also dabbled in Turkish oil wrestling.
