With muscle car values now, its gotta be really hard to get your hands on clean top of the line models that someone will let you abuse....but yeah it would have been a hell of lot cooler if there weren't any automatics or fuel saver geared rides...

Funny thing is that it is probably a 390 anyway.

I've actually got a 427 sitting here in my shop, or at least some FE block with 427 heads on it.  I looked up the numbers on the heads and it came back as a '68 427.  I may be wrong about the year, but it was definately a 427.  I think it's ruined though.  It was sitting outside in a 50's model Ford p/u that an ex-mechanic left here and had a lot of water in it.  I'm probably still gonna take it somewhere to see about getting it rebuilt though.

For the record I had a pretty good race against a Civic one time.  We actually ran almost exactly the same numbers all the way down the track (which was strange) but I nailed him on the tree.  That was high 12's by the way.  He was a nice guy too; nothing "ricer" about him.  Even came up and congratulated me.

Does the block say c7mea on it and have an "X" in the valley? If so, it is a high nickel block. Check for the cross bolt mains to see if it's a 427. Another clue would be the balancer as 427s were internally balanced and the 428 was externally balanced and would have a cut out on the balancer. I'm all over this shit since I am rebuilding my 67 mustang fastback with 428 to the tune of forged pistons and H beam rods........etc....so.....I probably have answers to any FE big block off the top of my head. Pics to follow once they are developed and maybe a "fuck osw" message on the engine.

Here are two pics......one in the car and one on the stand in the living room. Not it's time for bodywork and some override shelby traction bars. Tom cruise's character in war of the worlds would be proud. http://princemakaha.homestead.com/files/4-14-07_1046 http://princemakaha.homestead.com/files/3-29-07_2141

Nope........engine is done and those are the pics. I doubt you can handle a spark plug socket. I'm working on a turbocharged infinity M30 now while your dad's mustang sits in the garage.
